Store Helper-NE_NSC-Thrift Store Department-401JOB SUMMARY: Assistscustomers in donating, locating and/or selecting store items; stocks andarranges store items in a neat and orderly manner; monitors the store displaysand performs various cleaning activities to ensure the store is properlymaintained. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Thisjob description should not be interpreted as all inclusive. It is intended to identify the essentialfunctions and requirements of this position. The incumbents may be requested to perform job-related responsibilitiesand tasks other than those stated in this job description. Assists customersby explaining store policy and responding to questions regarding the pricingand/or purchasing of items; ensures that all customers visiting the store havea pleasant experience. Assistscustomers who are donating items to The Salvation Army; directs customers tothe proper loading/unloading area, may assist with hauling donations to thestorage area; prepares and provides tax receipts as needed. Places andarranges items in the store as directed; checks all store displays to ensurethat items are maintained and displayed in a neat and orderly manner; rotatesand/or rearranges stock as directed; returns items to the proper location aftercustomer's have handled. Answers thestore telephone in a tactful and courteous manner; assists customers by respondingto questions and providing directions and/or general information; may scheduleand record donation pick-ups. Cleans alldisplay racks and shelves; sweeps and mops floors; cleans windows and mirrors;ensures that the store is maintained in a clean and inviting manner. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs dutiesof the Store Clerk as relief and/or when needed. Assistscustomers in carrying purchased/donated items in/out of the store. Assists indisaster relief projects as needed. Performs otherrelated work as required. MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT: Cleaning Toolsand Solutions Hand-Truck MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: No formaleducation or experience required. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS: None. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability tomaintain the store displays in a neat and orderly manner. Ability tofollow instructions and work independently. MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES: Ability to meetattendance requirements. Ability to read,write, and communicate the English language. Physical abilityto lift and carry and/or push/pull light objects (less than 25 lbs.). Ability to standand walk for extended periods of time. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work isperformed in a warehouse environment where there are physical discomfortsassociated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust,dirt, and the like.
