FALCATA Defense & Space Systems Division is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer Aid, based in Huntsville, AL. This group provides products and services in the areas of radar, communication systems, sensors, antennas and other electronics systems to the missile, radar/sensor system, communications, control systems, data acquisition, and signal processing markets. The company has developed products ranging from chip-level, application-specific integrated circuits (ASIC) to complete, turnkey radar and communication systems. FALCATA has established a state-of-the-art hardware capability that is well respected by customers in Government and industry. FALCATA also provides full spectrum systems engineering support including theoretical analysis, requirements generation, interface control, and test planning/execution/data analysis.

As a Manufacturing Engineer Aid at FALCATA, you will play a key role in supporting low quantity high mix manufacturing operations. You will assist Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Services, Mechanical Services, Quality Assurance, Material Planning, and production personnel with manufacturing documentation, material coordination, equipment setup, process control, and shop-floor activities.

The position supports high-complexity electronics manufacturing, including Surface Mount Technology (SMT) floor, electromechanical box builds, mechanical manufacturing, stockroom operations, and machine-shop activities. The role requires a quick learner who pays close attention to detail, accurately maintains records, and enjoys working as part of a cross-functional team in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), and other manufacturing information systems to manage product data, bills of material, drawing revisions, engineering changes, configuration records, and work-order requirements.
  • Support production kitting and material-shortage management for SMT assemblies, circuit card assemblies, cable assemblies, mechanical assemblies, and system-level builds. Verify kits against the applicable bill of material, identify missing or incorrect parts, track shortages, monitor incoming materials and outsourced items, and route material kits in accordance with program priorities and the TSC Quality Management System.
  • Provide hands-on support for SMT manufacturing activities. Assist with component verification, moisture-sensitive device controls, feeder and setup preparation, material staging, kit readiness, solder-paste and stencil coordination, production documentation, and movement of work between SMT, inspection, rework, and downstream assembly operations.
  • Maintain required equipment calibration and service database, service status records, calibration certificates, and supporting documentation.
  • Run local business errands for urgently required tools, supplies, calibration activities, or special-process deliveries when assigned and authorized.
  • Maintain employee training, qualification records, and access control records for applicable manufacturing processes, equipment, work instructions, and departmental procedures. Help ensure personnel training remains current and properly documented before controlled operations are performed and facility access is granted.
  • Familiar with IPC, J-STD, MIL and DOD Standards, in-depth knowledge and experience with AS9100 standards and certification processes.
  • Support in maintaining compliance with safety by maintaining tasks related to safety compliance such as First Aid Kits, Eye Wash Stations, CPR Certification renewals and EHS software for documentation.

Required Qualifications

  • A High School diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience is required (degree in lieu of experience accepted)
  • Manage and support the Manufacturing Execution System (MES), such as Factory Logix, to improve production flow, data collection, material traceability, process control, and real-time visibility. Enter and maintain work-order information, operation sequences, production data, labor records, inspection requirements, and manufacturing documentation within the MES and applicable work-in-process tracking systems.
  • Manage technical manufacturing data. Read and interpret engineering drawings, mechanical drawings, blueprints, schematics, bills of material, assembly instructions, and process specifications. Create, format, revise, and maintain technical documentation, including reports, test results, work instructions, material lists, and production records.
  • Prepare request-for-quotation data packages for raw materials, machined components, tooling, calibration services, and outsourced manufacturing or special-process services. Verify that each package contains the correct drawings, specifications, revisions, quantities, quality clauses, and delivery requirements.
  • Generate and route purchase requisitions for laboratory supplies, production tooling, materials, software, consumables, calibration services, and capital equipment. Coordinate with Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Services, Mechanical Services, Material Planning, and Purchasing to ensure requests contain accurate technical, financial, program, and schedule information.
  • Understanding of MES, PLM, and Deltek Costpoint systems.
  • US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain government security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active DoD secret clearance.
  • Experience with an MES System.
  • Familiarity with SMT manufacturing processes, Automated Optical Inspection technology, electronic-component handling, or circuit card manufacturing.
  • Experience applying audit standards, procedures, and techniques.
  • Experience assisting with the development, formatting, implementation, and revision of manufacturing work instructions and Standard Operating Procedures. Work with engineers, technicians, inspectors, and production personnel to document safe, repeatable, efficient, and auditable manufacturing processes within FactoryLogix and Omnify or other approved systems.
  • Experience collaborating with multi-functional teams, including Technicians, Quality Assurance, and MRP/Parts Production Control, to meet program needs.
  • Managing the logistics for prototype builds, including ordering and scheduling parts. Assist Electrical and Mechanical Services with shop tasks, such as tracking job progress and ensuring the right materials are available to meet delivery schedules.
  • Interact across all levels of the organization; efficiently and effectively communicate and implement agreed upon changes; navigate difficult situations and conversations to a productive outcome.
  • Able to work independently or as a part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to accurately maintain records and documents in accordance with policies and procedures.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
