Part-Time Middle School Tutor – Math & Academic Support Birmingham & Rochester, Michigan | $23 per hour

Tutor Doctor is seeking an upbeat, engaging tutor to support a seventh-grade student with math, literacy, writing, and organization. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys building connections with students while providing structure, encouragement, and accountability.

Schedule & Location

  • Three tutoring sessions per week.
  • Availability Monday–Thursday after 6:00 p.m.; weekends may also be possible.
  • Sessions begin in person at the family’s homes in Birmingham and Rochester, Michigan.
  • Hybrid or virtual tutoring may follow once a strong connection is established.
  • Scheduling and session arrangements will be coordinated with the student’s father.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide math instruction as the primary focus.
  • Support literacy, writing, homework completion, and other subjects as needed.
  • Help the student develop organization skills and stay on top of assignments.
  • Strengthen motivation and encourage consistent academic progress.
  • Provide enrichment when appropriate.

About the Student

The student is friendly, social, and athletic, with strong academic potential. He enjoys football, golf, and music. He benefits from an engaging tutor who can connect with his interests while helping him stay focused and accountable.

Ideal Candidate

  • Comfortable supporting middle school math, reading, and writing.
  • Patient, encouraging, and able to make learning engaging.
  • Skilled at building rapport while maintaining clear expectations.
  • Dependable and available for three consistent sessions each week.
  • Able to travel to both Birmingham and Rochester for in-person sessions.
