This customer-facing role serves as the main point of contact for all customer inquiries, including inventory management, shipment tracking, and supply chain programs. The Specialist is responsible for driving cost savings, optimizing supply chain processes, and ensuring smooth operations from order placement to final payment. This role requires a strong ability to develop and implement creative solutions to real-time issues, manage customer orders for compliance, and collaborate with Sales, Supply Planning, Warehousing, and Transportation teams to deliver exceptional service and meet organizational goals. This role is ideal for individuals who are customer-focused, possess strong analytical and critical thinking skills, and can manage complex supply chain processes efficiently. Each Specialist is assigned one or more accounts to manage, based on factors such as order volume, business and customer-specific requirements, and the visibility of the customer. The comprehensive knowledge of the business and the skills gained over time in the Specialist role equip team members to successfully advance their careers at Tyson, whether within Customer Solutions or in other functional areas of the organization.

  • Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with customers by understanding their organization, product portfolio, and internal processes. Tailor services, communication, and execution to meet and exceed customer expectations. Specialists play a role in supporting Sales by participating in food shows, customer visits, and store walks that foster collaboration and deepen relationships with customers. Engaging directly with customers helps Specialists better understand customer needs, address questions, and enhance overall customer satisfaction.
  • Order Efficiency: Influence customers to drive order efficiencies such as direct plant shipments and full truckload ordering and ordering in layer and/or pallet increments that directly impact financial costs.
  • Supply Chain Management: Utilize supply chain management software (e.g., SAP, PowerBI, AFE, JDA, TES, FourKites) to enhance visibility, coordination, and decision-making in processing and tracking orders.
  • Program Communication: Clearly communicate the expectations and benefits of supply chain programs (e.g., retail bracket compliance, direct plant shipment, lead time, on-time delivery, fill rates, warehouse efficiencies) and monitor performance against company goals.
  • Logistics Optimization: Seek opportunities to consolidate shipments, maximize load efficiency, and reduce transportation and logistics costs.
  • Sales Collaboration: Partner with Sales teams to support sales growth by recommending replacement items for discontinued materials, managing shorted quantities, and providing enhanced support on seasonal and promotional orders.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Conduct meetings between Customer Solutions, Sales, Product, and Logistics teams to promote cross-functional collaboration.
  • Workload: Manages up to 100 customer orders, 1.3 million pounds, and 3.8 million dollars in sales each week. Day-to-day tasks are tailored to meet the distinct needs of each business and customer. Workload fluctuates with seasonal variations across different industry segments, impacting peak season demands.
  • Account Assignment & Coverage: Manages a customer or customer base that is dependent on factors such as geographical location, weekly order volume, customer uniqueness, and complexity of the business managed. Business-specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, completing necessary documentation, participating in recurring calls with internal and external partners, and contributing to the planning and coordination of customer shipments. Provides account coverage outside of the assigned business to support business needs as required.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
