Principal, Strategy Consulting Practice

Are you passionate about making an impact on the education sector? Interested in working with companies, non-profits, institutions, investors, and foundations across the PreK-12, postsecondary, and professional learning markets?

At Tyton Partners, we are striving to enable education systems to evolve for everyone, everywhere. We do this in our consulting practice by advising organizational leaders and their teams on their best path to meet learners’ needs, foster equitable communities, and build a self-sustaining enterprise.

In our work, we pair a rigorous market orientation with clients’ specific mission and goals to derive impactful and actionable solutions that can be implemented.

What You Will Do

Principals at Tyton Partners play a critical leadership role within the Firm, driving client engagements to help senior leaders in the education sector solve their most pressing strategic challenges. As a Principal, you will lead teams and take responsibility for all phases of an engagement. You will also work closely with Partners in the Firm to manage and extend client relationships.

In addition to client work, Principals are responsible for developing, managing, and mentoring junior team members and must be committed to cultivating organizational talent. Principals also take an active role in developing the Firm's presence and impact through thought leadership activities, contributing to client and practice area development initiatives, and enhancing core engagement and business processes.

A Principal's primary responsibilities include:

• Managing workstreams and/or projects from initial data collection and analysis through the creation and delivery of final client deliverables

• Leading day-to-day project management and communication with external and internal stakeholders

• Structuring and performing analyses and conducting primary research to uncover the insights that support our recommendations to clients

• Synthesizing research and analysis into clear and compelling PowerPoint presentations and research briefs

• Presenting findings and recommendations at team and client meetings

• Contributing to the development of the Firm by leveraging internal and external networks, building deep knowledge of sector trends, supporting team recruitment, and developing best practices

• Managing, developing, and mentoring junior team members

This is an ideal position for someone with prior client-services experience who is ready to take on a leadership role in a growing firm with an entrepreneurial and collaborative culture.

What We Hope You Will Bring

You will bring an approach that is aligned with Tyton's values:

• A drive to learn constantly by being humble, curious, and open to diverse perspectives

• A spirit of generosity by seeing the best in others, engaging honestly / authentically, and being a team player

• A mindset for impact by having a genuine interest in the education sector and being focused on improving learner outcomes

In addition, you will have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of consulting or other relevant professional experience, or an MBA with 3+ years of relevant consulting experience, and bring:

• Prior experience in consulting, investment banking, market research, or another relevant analytical role

• Strong and demonstrated interest in the education sector; knowledge of the sector is a plus

• Superior analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills

• Demonstrated ability to exercise mature judgment in dynamic situations

• Outstanding interpersonal and team-building skills, able to manage up, down, and across an organization

• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills

• Strong project management and organizational skills, with an ability to work independently and manage multiple, competing priorities

• Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and a willingness to take ownership of breakthrough ideas and strategy formulation

• A self-starter, comfortable working in dynamic and evolving environments

What We Offer

Deep leadership exposure across the global education sector

• Lead engagements with market-leading companies, investors, non-profit organizations, institutions, and foundations across the education ecosystem

• Work closely with Partners and senior client stakeholders on the sector's most pressing strategic and investment questions

Meaningful ownership and room for growth

• Take responsibility for all phases of client engagements, from data collection through final delivery, while managing and extending client relationships alongside our Partners

• Grow in ways that match your own aspirations, with ample room to advance as a Principal at Tyton Partners

Team development and mentorship

• Develop, manage, and mentor junior team members as a core part of the role, cultivating organizational talent across the Firm

• Be paired with a mentor who provides ongoing support, feedback, and guidance on your professional development and career progression

• Continue building your own leadership and client management skills alongside experienced Partners

An entrepreneurial and collaborative environment

• Take an active role in shaping the Firm's presence and impact through thought leadership, practice area development, and business process improvements

• Contribute in a substantive way to an entrepreneurial, expanding professional services firm with a best-in-class sector brand

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
