Job Description
SUMMARY
As the Product Manager, Unified Payables, you will be the dedicated, hands-on product owner for U.S. Bank's Unified Payables offering for middle-market clients: one bank-backed experience that brings together invoice workflow, supplier onboarding, multi-rail payment execution (ACH, wire, check, virtual card, RTP, and FedNow), ERP connectivity, and reconciliation. Reporting to the Head of Faster and Unified Payables, this individual contributor role turns strategy into a product that ships and sells. You will define requirements, lead client discovery, shape packaging and pricing, and equip Sales to win. This is a build-stage role for someone who moves at pace, makes data-driven decisions, and wants to compete with the best accounts payable and bill pay platforms in the market.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Product Definition and Roadmap - Own product requirements, backlog priorities, and the release plan for the Unified Payables minimum viable offering and later releases, aligned to the portfolio vision set by the Head of Emerging and Unified Payables. - Define the end-to-end client journey across invoice intake and approvals, supplier onboarding and validation, payment execution and routing, remittance delivery, and ERP posting and reconciliation. - Translate client and business needs into epics, features, user stories, and acceptance criteria. Partner with Agile delivery teams through refinement, planning, testing, and launch. - Define OKRs and success measures such as client wins, adoption, paper-to-electronic conversion, straight-through processing, and revenue per client, and report performance against them.
Client Discovery and Market Insight - Lead client interviews, surveys, and voice-of-client work with middle-market accounts payable, treasury, and finance leaders, and turn findings into prioritized requirements. - Track the competitive landscape, including bank peers, AP automation providers, and spend-management fintechs. Recommend where to match, where to differentiate, and where to partner. - Build personas, journey maps, and prototypes, including AI-assisted prototypes, to validate concepts with clients and stakeholders before investment.
Commercialization and Go-to-Market - Develop packaging, bundling, and pricing recommendations with Pricing and Finance, and take them through product governance. - Build sales enablement, including positioning, demo flows, playbooks, FAQs, and training for relationship managers and treasury management consultants. Support client campaigns and cross-sell between TPS and CPS client bases. - Serve as the product subject matter expert for RFPs, client meetings, implementations, and escalations. - Track pipeline, wins, and adoption, and use the results to adjust the roadmap and go-to-market approach.
Integration, Platforms, and Partners - Partner with Technology and Architecture on ERP and accounting-system integrations, APIs, and payment orchestration across existing TPS and CPS capabilities. - Support build, buy, and partner analysis, including fintech and vendor evaluations and business case inputs. - Help combine overlapping products and capabilities into one coherent offering with a single client experience.
Risk, Controls, and Compliance - Ensure the product meets federal and state regulatory requirements, payment network and Nacha rules, and bank policy. Coordinate legal review of all client-facing collateral and documentation. - Build fraud prevention, supplier bank-account validation, and auditability into product design. - Manage product risk and third-party vendor oversight through the bank's risk management processes.
