What You'll Do

The Senior Regulatory Test Engineer leads the evaluation of products against worldwide EMI, EMC, RF, safety, and cybersecurity regulatory requirements. This role develops test strategies and detailed test plans, interprets new and changing standards, organizes complex test programs, and drives technical alignment across engineering, compliance, product, and external laboratory partners. The position is expected to operate with senior-level judgment, mentor other test engineers, and convert past testing experience and evolving regulatory requirements into repeatable internal practices and policies.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead EMI, EMC, RF, safety, and cybersecurity test planning for Ubiquiti's product lines, including wireless access points, gateways, routing products, and related network equipment.
  • Create comprehensive test plans and test readiness checklists that define standards, configurations, modes of operation, sample requirements, instrumentation, acceptance criteria, and schedule dependencies.
  • Perform and oversee EMC and RF testing in accordance with FCC, ISED, EU, and other global requirements using applicable test standards and regulatory guidance.
  • Review, analyze, and interpret test data; identify compliance risks; and communicate clear recommendations to cross-functional engineering, product, operations, and certification teams.
  • Develop, validate, and improve EMC and RF test setups for emissions and immunity, including methods under CFR 47 Part 15.247, 15.407, 15.255, ISED RSS-247, ETSI EN 300 328, ETSI EN 301 893, ETSI EN 302 502, ETSI EN 303 687, CISPR 32, and IEC 61000-4-2, -3, -4, and -6.
  • Use past product experience and newly released or revised standards to develop internal test policies, laboratory procedures, troubleshooting guides, and decision criteria for product changes.
  • Assess product changes for EMC, RF, safety, and cybersecurity impact; determine required regression testing; and document the technical rationale supporting homologation and regulatory approvals.
  • Lead EMC and RF troubleshooting efforts, including root-cause analysis for radiated and conducted emissions, immunity failures and configuration-related test issues.
  • Mentor engineers and technicians on test methods, instrumentation, report quality, lab discipline, and regulatory interpretation; review technical work for completeness and accuracy.
  • Coordinate test schedules, equipment readiness, sample availability, external lab engagement, and issue escalation to support aggressive launch timelines without compromising compliance quality.
  • Generate and approve detailed test reports, technical justifications, and supporting documentation for internal records, certification submissions, and compliance audits.
  • Support ISO 17025 laboratory accreditation activities, including method validation, equipment control, record quality, corrective actions, and continuous improvement.

Educational & Skill Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, computer engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience and evidence of exceptional ability.
  • 5+ years of hands-on regulatory, EMC, RF, safety, or wireless compliance testing experience, preferably with wireless, Wi-Fi, networking, IoT, or communications products.
  • Demonstrated ability to create test plans, define test coverage, organize complex test programs, and make sound technical decisions with limited supervision.
  • Strong working knowledge of EMC and RF test instrumentation, including spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, oscilloscopes, signal generators, antennas, coupling clamps, field probes, ESD simulators, power supplies, and product monitoring tools.
  • Experience with EMC test automation and laboratory software such as EMC32, Nexio, BAT-EMC, Keysight tools, or similar systems.
  • Ability to interpret regulatory standards, apply them to new product architectures, and translate requirements into practical internal test procedures and policies.
  • Hands-on experience debugging radiated and conducted emissions, immunity, wireless performance, product configuration, and communication monitoring issues.
  • Working knowledge of analog and digital electronics, electromagnetic theory as applied to EMC testing, and common communication interfaces such as Ethernet, USB, CAN, LIN, and wireless protocols.
  • Experience generating and reviewing detailed EMC, RF, or safety test reports and technical documentation suitable for certification bodies, external labs, and internal audits.
  • Understanding of ISO 17025 laboratory accreditation, quality systems, and test method validation is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity regulatory requirements and emerging product security obligations is preferred.
  • Strong organization, prioritization, written communication, and cross-functional leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple programs and aggressive delivery targets.
  • Self-managed, results-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with ambiguous technical and regulatory questions.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
