Department Summary

The UCLA Labor Occupational Safety and Health (LOSH) Program is dedicated to promoting worker health, safety, and wellbeing, and building capacity for workers and worker organizations to take action to improve working conditions. LOSH offers high-quality training and education, participatory action research, policy analysis, and worker leadership development to advance worker rights and protections. LOSH is a unit of both the Institute for Research and Labor and Employment (IRLE) and the Center for Occupational and Environmental Health (COEH). Position Summary

The Senior Research Analyst (SRA) provides strategic leadership of LOSH’s research initiatives. Leveraging their advanced technical knowledge, the SRA manages LOSH’s research portfolio, which fall into three categories 1) assessment of worker safety and health issues, 2) identification of effective controls for workplace hazards and innovative policy interventions, and 3) evaluation of worker trainings and interventions to mitigate injury and illness in the workplace. The SRA advances LOSH’s strong commitment to participatory action research by cultivating new and managing existing research partnerships with unions, worker and community-based organizations, and public agencies. Responsibilities include collaborating with the Director to identify and pursue funding opportunities to support new research initiatives; developing research protocols and data collection tools; managing compliance with IRB requirements for human subjects research; overseeing data collection and analytical strategies; and authoring high-quality summaries, reports, and publications tailored to diverse stakeholders. The SRA supervises members of the LOSH research team, and they oversee the work of Graduate Student Researchers and student interns, including those participating in the national Occupational Health Internship Program. The SRA exercises a high degree of autonomy in formulating project plans and strategies, administering policies and resources, complex problem-solving, and ensuring compliance with timelines, grant requirements, and institutional standards. They represent LOSH publicly in community forums and professional meetings and contribute to LOSH organizational and staff development.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
