The posting

Responsibilities Capital Medical Group is a newly acquired physician practice group within Independence Physician Management (IPM), a subsidiary of UHS. We are seeking an experienced, strategic Human Resources leader to help shape the future of our organization and support the continued growth of a large, multi-specialty medical practice serving patients across the Washington, DC area and the DMV. The Executive Director of Surgery and OBGYN provides strategic, operational, financial, and administrative leadership for the Surgery and Obstetrics & Gynecology departments in support of the organization's clinical mission. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and partnering in a dyad leadership model with Department Chairs and physician leaders, the Executive Director advances operational excellence, service line growth, quality, patient experience, workforce engagement, and financial performance. The role oversees department operations, budgets, ambulatory growth, program development, and strategic initiatives while fostering strong partnerships with physicians, leaders, and staff to advance organizational priorities and deliver exceptional patient care. At Capital Medical Group, our mission is simple but powerful: to provide personalized, innovative, equitable, and high-quality care that improves the lives of our patients and their families. As the largest multi-specialty physician practice in the region, we support more than 50 medical and surgical specialties through a network of hospitals and care locations, including GW Hospital, Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center, GW Urgent Care, and affiliated sites throughout the DMV. Why Join Capital Medical Group? This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a growing healthcare organization where your leadership will directly influence employee experience, organizational culture, and operational success. You will join a collaborative team that values innovation, accountability, and high-quality care—while helping build a strong foundation for the future of Capital Medical Group. Qualifications Provide strategic, operational, financial, and administrative leadership for the Surgery and OBGYN departments, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and serving as the primary administrative partner to Department Chairs and physician leaders. Develop and execute service line growth strategies, including ambulatory expansion, new program development, site planning, and market growth initiatives that improve access, quality, and financial performance. Partner with Department Chairs, division chiefs, and physician leaders in a dyad model to establish strategic priorities, operational goals, productivity expectations, and performance improvement initiatives. Direct department operations, leading strategic planning, operational reviews, and cross-functional initiatives that improve efficiency, standardize processes, and enhance patient care. Develop and manage departmental operating, staffing, and capital budgets; monitor financial performance, analyze variances, forecast results, and implement corrective action plans to achieve fiscal goals. Monitor key operational, financial, and quality performance indicators, including access, provider productivity, patient experience, labor productivity, revenue, and service line performance, using data to drive continuous improvement. Oversee departmental provider recruitment, contracting, onboarding, credentialing, scheduling optimization, and performance management, including monitoring provider productivity, work RVUs, access, leave, CME, administrative time, call responsibilities, and contractual obligations to optimize clinical capacity, operational efficiency, and financial performance. Lead and develop managers, practice administrators, and multidisciplinary teams by promoting accountability, employee engagement, succession planning, and leadership development while fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence. Partner with finance, quality, patient experience, access, marketing, physician relations, and other organizational leaders to improve operational performance, referral growth, patient satisfaction, and care coordination. Collaborate with physicians, executive leadership, and multidisciplinary teams to implement organization-wide initiatives that standardize processes, reduce variation, improve operational efficiency, and advance quality, patient experience, and organizational performance. Oversee departmental contracts, vendor relationships, capital planning, supplies, and external agreements while ensuring regulatory compliance, operational readiness, and effective resource utilization. Build and maintain strong relationships with physicians, staff, executive leadership, community partners, and referring providers while serving as a visible leader who promotes organizational values, employee engagement, and exceptional patient care. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Finance, Nursing, Public Health, or a related field and five (5) or more years of progressive healthcare leadership experience. Demonstrated success leading physician practice operations, surgical services, financial management, workforce development, and strategic program growth. Experience with provider productivity (wRVU) management, operating room utilization, ambulatory practice development, capital planning, and practice expansion is preferred. Leadership Competencies Executive presence with demonstrated strategic and financial acumen, strong physician partnership skills, and a commitment to operational excellence. Ability to lead change, develop high-performing teams, leverage data to drive decision-making, manage complex initiatives, negotiate effectively, communicate across all levels of an organization, foster collaboration, and promote accountability. Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
