Responsibilities Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Laurel Heights Hospital is a 112-bed facility located in Atlanta Ga. We are dedicated to providing youth with compassionate mental health treatment that encourages self-responsibility and personal growth. We provide psychiatric treatment to children and adolescents that present with a broad range of psychiatric, behavioral disorders and autism. A clinically skilled multidisciplinary team works to partner with the youth and family to accomplish their goals in a supportive and therapeutic environment. Laurel Heights Hospital is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic RBT to assist in the acquisition of functional skills/decrease in challenging behaviors of individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). The Behavior Technician provides 1:1 behavioral intervention services to patients with mental/behavioral health needs and supports the facility treatment teams. The Behavior Technician is responsible for implementing Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) based programs as directed by the Board Certified Behavior Analyst including instructing patients and facility personnel. Responsible for implementation of skill acquisition and behavior reduction plans developed through working directly with patients in a one on one or group setting. Collect and record data, create and maintain materials, writes progress notes, maintains point store, and plan facility incentives. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Experience in a residential facility a plus Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree in psychology or similar field or equivalent experience. Experience: Two (2) years’ experience as MHT or RBT. Minimum of two (2) years in a psychiatric setting with children and adolescents. Mental health professional with knowledge in behavior management. RBT preferred or in a timely manner completes a Behavioral Ananlyst Certifcation Board (BACB) approved RBT course and keeps registration to the BACB current. • Certified in CPR and HWC or ability to comply with training upon hire. Working knowledge of behavior management and those on the Autism spectrum disorder. • Effective oral, written, and listening communication skills; computer skills (Microsoft Office Products). Physical Demands - Working with patients in their natural environments may require you to lift or move approximately 50 lbs. and be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures (kneeling, squatting, sitting, and standing) for extended periods. • Fully participate with a team to safely restrain or seclude patients as necessary.
