The posting

Thank you for your interest in employment with Louisiana Tech University.

The College of Engineering and Science (COES) at Louisiana Tech University seeks an individual with experience and vision to lead and provide administrative oversight to one or more Engineering disciplines. The COES offers a unique multidisciplinary, team-oriented educational and research environment (https://www.latech.edu/engineering-science/index.php), in which traditional departments are eschewed for units that have one or more academic programs associated with them. The Academic Director position provides administrative oversight to one of the units, which typically ranges in size of 15-25 faculty members, with a focus on one or more Engineering disciplines. This is a 12-month position.

Major research infrastructure and investments at Louisiana Tech are represented by multiple interdisciplinary research centers (https://www.latech.edu/research/centers-of-excellence/index.php). There are six master’s, five interdisciplinary PhD, and a Doctorate of Engineering and Technology Management programs in COES. Louisiana Tech University is a US News Tier 1 National University.

Candidates must have earned a Doctorate in Engineering or a closely related field, and must be qualified for an appointment as a tenured associate or full professor. The candidate will report to the Dean of COES and serve on the college’s leadership team. The duties for the position are:

· Lead one or more academic programs in engineering, providing faculty and staff oversight.

· Serve on the leadership team and help implement the mission and values of COES.

· Lead and support efforts to maintain ABET accreditation in administered programs.

· Provide vision and leadership to advance academics, research, and scholarship in the administered programs.

· Facilitate individual and interdisciplinary external funding opportunities within faculty in the unit.

· Engage in active externally funded research.

· Work with other faculty in COES and throughout the University to build collaborative opportunities in research and teaching.

· Enhance the environment of the faculty and student body, helping to foster an inclusive experience.

· Preference will be given to candidates with backgrounds and interests in fields related to Civil, Construction, or Industrial Engineering, but all areas of Engineering will be considered.

Apply at <workday link>. Applicants should compile a single PDF that includes 1) statement of interest outlining research, teaching, and leadership experience; 2) curriculum vitae; 3) statement of research interests and plans; 4) statement outlining vision for leadership addressing undergraduate and graduate education, interdisciplinary research, faculty success, and fostering a collegial and inclusive environment; and 5) the names and contact information for at least three references.

Review of applications and nominations will begin on January 15, 2026 and continue until suitable candidates are identified, with a projected start date of July 1, 2026.

Louisiana Tech is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action/ADA Employer and places a high priority on the creation of an environment supportive of ethnic minorities, women, veterans, and persons with disabilities.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
