Job description

What’s the role? General Manager

What is Uncommon? Uncommon is a group of exceptional work spaces across London that cultivates an environment with sustainability and wellness at its core. Our members are the forefront of what we do, providing personalised service to each and every one.

What will you be doing? The General Manager is accountable for the full performance of Uncommon Holborn, our largest building. They lead the site team, build strong relationships with enterprise members and external stakeholders, and run the building safely, smoothly and sustainably, with member retention as the core goal.

  • Member retention and enterprise relationships: own retention and tenure across the building. Build regular, senior relationships with enterprise clients, understand their plans for growth and act early on renewal risk. Be the main point of contact for all members, oversee onboarding and offboarding, and act on NPS and survey themes.
  • Operations: constantly raise standards and improve the building and its facilities, working with the Operations Manager and central Facilities team on maintenance and planned preventative maintenance. Keep the site presentable and ready for members every day and support the F&B Manager and Events team so that daily F&B and member events are delivered safely and to company standard.
  • Leadership: lead the site team of 11 by example. Coach and develop them through monthly 1-to-1s and KPI and bi-yearly reviews, embed the Uncommon Experience pillars, identify training needs and maintain rotas for 8am to 6pm cover.
  • Commercial: own the site P&L, with monthly variance commentary to Finance and senior management. Maximise revenue, including ancillary income from meeting rooms, events and catering, and control costs. Work closely with the Sales team to deliver occupancy, desk rate and retention targets, and support viewings so every prospect has a great first impression.
  • Compliance and security: act as site lead for health and safety, fire and security. Keep site records and audits up to date, own incident escalation and security training compliance, and escalate issues early.
  • ESG and B Corp: bring sustainability into the day-to-day running of the building. Support B Corp recertification and the Reduction Plan, and drive learning, development and DE&I for the team and beyond.

What can Uncommon give you?

  • Competitive salary
  • Private healthcare cover with Vitality
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, an extra day for your birthday and an extra day with every full year of service
  • Discretional bonus scheme
  • Enhanced pension contribution of 5% with the option for salary sacrifice
  • Two paid charity days per year
  • £400 flexible benefit to use at your discretion
  • Exciting learning and development programmes to help progress your career
  • Regular social events, including an annual retreat

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.

Do you really apply for me?

Yes, on the employer's own form, the hardest ones included. Where a question needs you, you answer it right there and AI suggests the best answer. Don't want us applying from our IP addresses? Use our Chrome extension: we apply straight from your own browser.

Is it a subscription?

No. You pay once per CV, from $25. Every application goes out with its own CV, written for that posting.
