Job Summary

The Personal Client Manager is responsible for managing and servicing a sophisticated portfolio of affluent and high net worth personal insurance clients. This position serves as a trusted insurance resource to clients and works closely with Risk Advisors, insurance carriers, and internal service team members to identify exposures, develop comprehensive coverage solutions, and deliver an exceptional client experience. The position is responsible for maintaining strong client relationships, coordinating the renewal and marketing process, identifying coverage gaps and opportunities, and ensuring accounts are serviced accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with agency standards.

Essential Functions

Client Relationship & Account Management

  • Manage and service a portfolio of high net worth and affluent personal lines clients, providing a high level of responsiveness, professionalism, and personalized attention.
  • Serve as a primary day-to-day contact for clients regarding coverage questions, policy changes, billing matters, claims assistance, renewal planning, and other insurance needs.
  • Develop a detailed understanding of each client's assets, lifestyle, risk profile, family circumstances, and insurance priorities to provide appropriate recommendations.
  • Build trusted, long-term client relationships by providing proactive guidance and anticipating needs rather than relying solely on client-initiated requests.
  • Maintain a high degree of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality when handling sensitive client and financial information.

Coverage Analysis & Risk Management

  • Review personal insurance programs and identify potential coverage gaps, overlaps, limits concerns, and opportunities to strengthen the client's overall risk management strategy.
  • Evaluate exposures involving high-value residences, multiple properties, luxury and collector vehicles, valuable articles, fine art, jewelry, watercraft, recreational vehicles, excess liability, domestic staff, trusts, LLC-owned property, and other sophisticated personal risks.
  • Review replacement cost estimates, appraisals, schedules of valuables, umbrella limits, underlying liability requirements, and other coverage considerations.
  • Educate clients regarding coverage options, exclusions, limitations, deductibles, carrier requirements, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate with Risk Advisors on complex coverage recommendations, significant account changes, and opportunities to enhance the client's insurance program.

Renewal & Marketing

  • Lead the client service aspects of the renewal process, ensuring accounts are reviewed well in advance of expiration and that outstanding information is obtained timely.
  • Analyze renewal terms, pricing, coverage changes, carrier recommendations, and underwriting requirements.
  • Market accounts to appropriate carriers when necessary, including preparing submissions, gathering underwriting information, analyzing proposals, and comparing coverage options.
  • Prepare clear coverage comparisons and recommendations that help clients understand differences among carrier options.
  • Negotiate with carrier partners when appropriate to obtain favorable coverage terms and solutions.
  • Proactively communicate significant premium changes, coverage modifications, underwriting concerns, and available alternatives to clients.

New Business & Account Transitions

  • Partner with Risk Advisors on the onboarding and implementation of new high net worth personal lines accounts.
  • Review prospective client insurance programs to identify exposures and assist with developing appropriate coverage recommendations.
  • Obtain applications, underwriting information, appraisals, loss history, and supporting documentation required for placement.
  • Coordinate the issuance, review, and delivery of new policies and ensure coverage is accurately reflected in agency systems.

Carrier & Underwriting Relationships

  • Develop strong working relationships with high-net-worth personal lines carrier partners and underwriting teams.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable liaison between clients and carriers regarding underwriting requirements, inspections, risk improvement recommendations, and coverage considerations.
  • Coordinate property inspections, valuations, appraisal requirements, and underwriting follow-up.
  • Stay informed about carrier appetite, products, underwriting guidelines, coverage enhancements, and changes affecting the affluent personal insurance marketplace.

Ongoing Service & Administration

  • Process and/or oversee endorsements, cancellations, evidence of insurance, mortgagee and lienholder requests, automobile changes, valuable-article schedules, and other account transactions.
  • Review policies, endorsements, binders, and other documents for accuracy.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and timely documentation of client communications and account activity in Applied EPIC.
  • Coordinate with claims personnel and carrier representatives to support clients through the claims process while maintaining appropriate agency and carrier roles.
  • Identify potential cross-selling opportunities or newly emerging exposures and partner with the Risk Advisor as appropriate.
  • Provide backup and support to Personal Lines team members when needed.
  • Stay current on personal insurance trends, emerging risks, carrier developments, and industry best practices through professional development and training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education/Abilities/Skills

  • Active Property & Casualty insurance license required.
  • High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of personal lines insurance experience, preferably including direct responsibility for affluent or high net worth personal insurance accounts.
  • Strong technical knowledge of personal insurance coverages, forms, underwriting practices, and risk management concepts.
  • Experience managing complex accounts involving multiple properties, high-value homes, valuable articles, excess liability, luxury automobiles, and other specialized exposures.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.

Additional Qualifications

  • Desire to pursue Professional Designations e.g. CISR, CPRM, CPRIA

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
