Job Description

Location - This role is in-person. Work primarily takes place at North Campus, Edmonton.

The Manager of Accommodated Exams provides operational leadership, staff supervision, risk management, and service oversight for the university’s accommodated exam program. The position is responsible for ensuring that students with approved exam accommodations receive timely, accurate, confidential, and legally compliant exam services, while also maintaining academic integrity and instructor confidence in the exam administration process.

Operating within the office of Accessibility & Accommodations, the Manager oversees the full accommodated exam cycle, including student exam requests, instructor exam details, scheduling, exam preparation, administration, invigilation, proctoring procedures, service quality, and post-exam follow-up. The position manages high-volume and time-sensitive operations that affect students, instructors, faculties, departments, and central administrative units across the university.

The Manager provides direct supervision and operational leadership to both continuing staff and a large complement of casual proctoring staff. The role requires strong knowledge of disability accommodation processes, exam administration, university policy, student service, privacy and confidentiality, staff supervision, scheduling, and continuous improvement. The Manager contributes to the university by ensuring equitable access to assessment while protecting the integrity, reliability, and credibility of university examinations.

Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Staff Management

  • Recruit, onboard, schedule, and coach both permanent team members and a large complement of casual proctoring staff.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance workplace environment.

Operational Leadership & Exam Delivery

  • Oversee the complete accommodated exam lifecycle: registration, scheduling, exam prep, proctoring, invigilation, and post-exam follow-up.
  • Ensure operations comply with university policies, disability accommodation standards, and privacy legislation.

Continuous Improvement & Risk Management

  • Identify operational bottlenecks, implement streamlined workflows, and elevate service standards.
  • Manage operational risks related to high-volume exam delivery and uphold strict academic integrity protocols.

Stakeholder Engagement & Resource Oversight

  • Partner closely with accessibility specialists, instructors, faculty leaders, and central administrative units.
  • Oversee financial administration and resource allocation for the accommodated exam center.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree required; graduate degree preferred in a relevant field such as education, student affairs, disability studies, public administration, social sciences, management, or a related discipline.
  • Several years of progressively responsible experience in post-secondary student services, accessibility services, exam administration, academic operations, or a comparable complex service environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of disability accommodation principles, duty to accommodate, accessibility, privacy, confidentiality, and equitable student service in a post-secondary environment.
  • Strong understanding of exam administration, academic integrity, invigilation practices, student assessment processes, and the operational risks associated with high-volume exam delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising staff, including recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, coaching, performance management, and conflict resolution.
  • Ability to manage large casual staffing complements and complex shift schedules in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong operational planning skills, including the ability to anticipate demand, assess capacity, allocate resources, manage competing priorities, and respond effectively to urgent issues.
  • Excellent judgment and decision-making skills, particularly in situations involving student accommodations, academic integrity, instructor expectations, privacy, and institutional risk.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with students, instructors, staff, proctors, vendors, and senior administrators.
  • Ability to develop, document, implement, and improve procedures, workflows, training materials, communication templates, and service standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify service gaps, assess risks, interpret feedback, and recommend practical improvements.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion, professionalism, and sound judgment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with accessibility specialists/advisors, instructors, faculties, administrative units, technology partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Experience with scheduling systems, student information systems, learning management systems, exam management platforms, spreadsheets, reporting tools, and standard office software.
  • Commitment to student-centred service, accessibility, inclusion, procedural fairness, academic integrity, and continuous improvement.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
