Job Description

About the Specialised Investigation Team

The Specialised Investigation Team (SIT) sits within Investigation & Intelligence, Group Compliance and conducts complex and specialist financial crime investigations. These include network investigations and reviews relating to areas such as correspondent banking, trade-based money laundering, sanctions, PEPs, tax evasion, shell companies, intelligence-led themes, and scam networks.

SIT uses data analytics models and tools to support the identification, prioritisation and investigation of potentially significant financial crime risks.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced AML professional to join SIT’s AML Analytics Excellence & Integration Team and support the continued evolution of SIT’s data analytics models, tools and thematic capabilities.

This is a forward-looking role focused on identifying opportunities to strengthen investigative value, broaden risk coverage and develop more integrated, effective and sustainable data analytics capabilities for SIT. The successful candidate will bring together investigation insights, emerging typologies, industry developments and user feedback to support the future direction of assigned SIT models and tools.

Working closely with the Lead, AML Analytics Excellence & Integration, the candidate will translate opportunities into clear enhancement priorities and delivery-ready business requirements. The role will also collaborate with SIT investigators, intelligence and risk-domain specialists, partner data analytics teams, and technology stakeholders to progress initiatives from assessment and prioritisation through implementation and outcome review.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Lead, AML Analytics Excellence & Integration in shaping SIT’s future data analytics strategy and priorities.
  • Maintain the roadmap and end-to-end view of assigned SIT models, tools and enhancement initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen investigative value, extend risk coverage and connect complementary analytics capabilities.
  • Translate investigation insights, emerging typologies and user feedback into actionable enhancements and delivery-ready business requirements.
  • Assess and recommend initiatives based on financial crime risk, investigative value, feasibility, operational impact and dependencies.
  • Coordinate delivery with SIT investigators, intelligence and risk specialists, partner data analytics teams and technology stakeholders.
  • Support business validation, user acceptance testing, implementation readiness and integration into SIT’s investigative workflows.
  • Evaluate enhancement outcomes using investigator feedback, investigative relevance, usability and intended benefits.
  • Escalate material delivery risks and dependencies, while providing clear portfolio updates and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with the wider AML Analytics Excellence & Integration Team to align model enhancements with intelligence, governance and reporting priorities.
  • Monitor emerging risks, analytical methods and technologies that could create further value for SIT.
  • Share effective approaches and lessons learned to support continuous improvement across SIT’s data analytics capabilities.

Requirements

  • Practical experience conducting AML investigations and assessing customer activities, transactions, relationships and supporting information.
  • Experience in AML data analytics, model enhancement, detection development, thematic reviews or related financial crime work.
  • Strong understanding of AML risks, typologies, red flags and detection approaches.
  • Ability to connect investigation findings and emerging risks with data analytics opportunities.
  • Ability to translate opportunities into clear business requirements, expected outcomes and success measures.
  • Experience working across investigation, intelligence, analytics, product and technology stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical judgement, delivery discipline and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Collaborative mindset, with the ability to contribute effectively within an integrated, cross-functional team.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, including the ability to present complex matters concisely to management.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with AML models, detection scenarios, thematic dashboards or network analytics.
  • Experience developing enhancement proposals, business requirements and testing materials.
  • Experience coordinating model integration, implementation or post-implementation reviews.
  • Familiarity with data analytics, visualisation and emerging analytical technologies.
  • Experience contributing to portfolio roadmaps, governance forums or industry initiatives.
  • Relevant AML, financial crime, business analysis, project management or data analytics certification would be advantageous.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate combines practical AML investigation experience with a forward-looking approach to data analytics and detection capability development.

The candidate should be able to identify how emerging risks, investigation insights, new data and analytical methods can deliver greater value to SIT. The individual will be structured, inquisitive and outcome-focused, with the ability to convert opportunities into sustainable enhancements.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Lead, AML Analytics Excellence & Integration, other team members, investigators, subject matter experts, partner data analytics teams and technology stakeholders. The role is suited to someone who can contribute specialised model enhancement and integration expertise while maintaining a broader view of SIT’s collective analytics priorities.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
