As part of the expansion of our research programs, the Faculty of Education at the University of Ottawa invites applications for one tenure track position.

The Faculty of Education is located on the unceded ancestral territories of the Anishinaabe-Algonquin people in the heart of the nation's capital. With approximately sixty professors, we offer an exceptional intellectual environment to students, educational researchers, and professors.

This recruitment reflects the current Faculty of Education’s strategic plan, which emphasizes social and ecological justice, well-being, and excellence and innovation in teaching and research.

We are seeking to fill a tenure-track position for an Assistant Professor whose research focuses on Digital Transformation, Artificial Intelligence, and Education. We seek an innovative and forward-thinking scholar whose research advances understanding of how artificial intelligence, digital technologies, data, and computational systems are transforming education, learning, and society.

We are particularly interested in candidates whose work moves beyond the application of existing technologies in classrooms, and engages substantively with the technical, computational, social, ethical, and systemic dimensions of digital transformation in Education. Areas of interest may include, but are not limited to, digital and AI literacies; AI and wellbeing; educational data and learning analytics; computational and digital research methodologies; socio-technical systems; learning design and assessment in AI-enabled environments; AI and creative processes; and responsible, ethical, and environmentally sustainable approaches within post-digital Education systems.

We welcome diverse theoretical and methodological perspectives and are particularly interested in candidates whose work demonstrates strong potential to build interdisciplinary research collaborations and attract external research funding.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop an ambitious, externally funded program of research; contribute to graduate research training; collaborate across disciplinary and institutional boundaries; and provide leadership in an emerging area of national and international significance. Candidates with expertise in computational methods, programming, large-scale educational data, learning analytics, digital methodologies, experimental or quasi-experimental designs, or other innovative approaches to studying complex educational systems are particularly encouraged to apply.

Duties: The functions of a member of the academic faculty include, in varying proportions: a) teaching activities; b) scholarly activities in the form of research, artistic or literacy creation, or professional work; c) academic service activities; and d) supervision of graduate students.

Terms: New tenure-track position (Assistant Professor). Appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor may be considered for exceptional candidates with a strong record of accomplishments.

Wage: Salary scale for an Assistant Professor starts at $99,377 (as of May 1, 2025).

Benefits package: The University of Ottawa provides a complete benefits package which include long-term disability, basic group life insurance, supplementary health insurance, a pension plan and optional life insurance, as well as relocation expenses.

Location of work: University of Ottawa, Faculty of Education, Ottawa, ON K1N 6N5.

Contact information: John Ranellucci, Vice-Dean of Research and Professional Development, Faculty of Education, University of Ottawa, send us an email at: [email protected].

A demonstrated ability to teach at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels in a context of interdisciplinary collaboration. Ability to teach hybrid and on-line courses.
  • Passive knowledge of French is essential. Full French-English bilingualism is considered an asset.

Your application should include:

  • A curriculum vitae
  • A sample of your published work
  • Transcript for each university degree awarded
  • A cover letter describing your interest in this position, your program of research and teaching interests
  • The names and contact information for three referees.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
