About This Opportunity

Are you passionate about shaping the future of healthcare education and workplace learning? Join UQ Medical School as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow/Research Officer and play a pivotal role in the nationally significant GEMPASS-funded project, Practice-Ready Medical Students: Ensuring Readiness for Team-based Collaborative Practice using a Participatory Approach.

Working within a collaborative and inclusive research environment, you will partner with leading researchers, clinicians and educators from The University of Queensland, the University of Melbourne and Griffith University to generate new insights that strengthen how future doctors learn, collaborate and contribute within healthcare teams.

This is an outstanding opportunity for an emerging researcher to influence medical education nationally while developing expertise in qualitative research, interprofessional learning and healthcare workforce development within a globally recognised university.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Research: Conduct qualitative and participatory research activities, including participant recruitment and retention, interviews, longitudinal data collection, workplace-based research, ethics and governance processes, research data management, qualitative analysis, and the interpretation of findings to support project outcomes.
  • Research Communication and Knowledge Translation: Prepare research reports, scholarly publications, conference presentations and dissemination materials, while supporting the development of educational resources and knowledge translation initiatives that enhance medical students’ readiness for collaborative, team-based practice.
  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with investigators, clinicians, educators, students and healthcare professionals across multiple universities and clinical settings, fostering productive partnerships and contributing to the successful delivery of project milestones and research outcomes.
  • Citizenship and Service: Contribute to the research culture of the UQ Medical School through active participation in project meetings, seminars and collaborative activities, while demonstrating behaviours aligned with UQ’s values and maintaining respectful and professional relationships with project partners and stakeholders.

This is a research focused position. Further information can be found by viewing UQ’s Criteria for Academic Performance.

About You

  • Completion or near completion of a PhD in health professions education, education, social sciences, psychology, healthcare, or a related discipline, with a demonstrated commitment to research excellence.
  • Experience undertaking qualitative research, including participant recruitment, interviews, longitudinal data collection, research data management, and qualitative analysis.
  • Demonstrated interest in medical education, workplace learning, interprofessional education, healthcare communication, or related areas that support collaborative healthcare practice.
  • Evidence of contributing to research outputs such as peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, reports, or other scholarly dissemination activities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, clinicians, educators, healthcare professionals, and research partners across multiple organisations.
  • Proven organisational and project management skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, manage competing priorities, and meet project deadlines in a dynamic research environment.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
