The posting

  • Full-time, continuing opportunity with one work-from-home administration day per week
  • Enjoy a 38-hour working week while leading hospitality at one of Sydney's premier performing arts venues
  • Competitive Salary plus 12% Superannuation

About the opportunity

The Food and Beverage Manager plays a key role in delivering exceptional hospitality experiences at the Seymour Centre, leading all food and beverage operations across bars, catering services and event hospitality. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for delivering outstanding customer service, driving commercial performance and creating memorable experiences for patrons attending performances, events and functions.

This is a full-time position that provides a level of work-life balance rarely found in hospitality management. While some evening and weekend work is required to support performances, opening nights and special events, the role offers a 38-hour working week and the flexibility of one work-from-home administration day per week.

Working closely with operational leaders, you will oversee supplier partnerships, stock management, staffing, financial performance and compliance activities while identifying opportunities to enhance service delivery, improve profitability and drive revenue growth. You will negotiate supplier agreements, manage budgets and ensure food and beverage offerings remain competitive, profitable and aligned with industry best practice.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced hospitality professional who thrives in a fast-paced events environment. Combining strategic oversight with day-to-day operational leadership, you will lead and develop a high-performing team while contributing to the ongoing success and reputation of one of Sydney's leading performing arts venues.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day operation of food and beverage outlets, delivering outstanding customer experiences and maintaining exceptional service standards.
  • Manage supplier relationships, negotiate contracts and curate attractive, high-quality food and beverage offerings that enhance the visitor experience.
  • Build, mentor and lead a high-performing hospitality team, fostering a culture of service excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Drive commercial success through effective budget management, stock control, pricing strategies, cash management and financial oversight.
  • Oversee catering services for performances, functions and events, ensuring seamless delivery and exceptional client service.
  • Ensure compliance with WHS and RSA requirements while championing continuous improvement across hospitality operations.

About you

  • Demonstrated experience managing food and beverage, hospitality, catering or event operations, ideally within arts, entertainment, live performance or venue environments.
  • A proven people leader who can inspire, motivate and develop high-performing teams.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, with experience managing budgets, forecasting and identifying opportunities to improve profitability.
  • Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to develop effective partnerships with suppliers, clients and colleagues.
  • Experience using POS systems, managing stock control processes and overseeing cash handling and reconciliation activities.
  • A genuine passion for hospitality, live events and delivering exceptional customer experiences.
  • A proactive, adaptable and solutions-focused approach, with the ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
