  • Full time, fixed term until December 2028
  • Provide project management and specialist advice to support the Sydney Biomedical Accelerator (SBA)
  • Base Salary HEO7, $117,133 - $127,610 p.a. + 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

The University of Sydney is welcoming applications for an experienced and motivated SBA Project Officer (Operations) to join the Central Operations Services (COS) team. This is a dynamic role that involves both coordination and implementation of project plans, deliverables and activities across multiple workstreams, and working effectively across organisational boundaries with partners spanning the University and Sydney Local Health District.

As SBA transitions from construction to operation, this role will support the development of core operational frameworks that will underpin research activity and operations in the new facility. Working closely with resident researchers, clinicians and technical staff, you will help translate diverse requirements into workable, sustainable systems. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys engaging directly with stakeholders, solving practical problems, and building processes from the ground up in a complex, multi-institutional environment.

The role supports a flexible hybrid work arrangement, enabling a combination of remote and office-based work to promote flexibility, collaboration and effective delivery of project outcomes.

Sydney Biomedical Accelerator

The Sydney Biomedical Accelerator (SBA) is a landmark partnership between the University of Sydney, Sydney Local Health District, and the NSW Government. Located within Tech Central, SBA brings together world-class researchers, clinicians, and entrepreneurs. SBA’s mission is to fast-track scientific discovery into real-world health outcomes by fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, translational research, and commercialisation. As SBA moves from establishment to operation, it will become a globally recognised hub for biomedical innovation.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • coordinate and support development of core operational frameworks for the SBA, engaging with researchers, clinicians, and cross-functional operational teams to understand their operational and technical needs
  • support the development of workflows and other initiatives that enable staff and students to experience the SBA as an integrated, high-performing research and translation environment
  • support communications, reporting and change management activities associated with establishing the above
  • provide project coordination and reporting, including preparing papers, reports and project plans, and tracking delivery of milestones
  • manage and synthesis data and information gathered through researcher engagement into clear, actionable reports and briefings for senior staff
  • provide broader project support to the SBA as directed by the Manager.

About you

  • bachelor's degree - In a relevant field or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and training
  • demonstrated experience in a project or operational role, with strong skills in stakeholder engagement and facilitation
  • proven ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and drive project progress with limited supervision
  • experience with financial modelling and analysis, with the ability to translate operational data into cost or resourcing insights
  • experience preparing written briefs and presentations for senior audiences
  • sound skills in managing documentation and information in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with researchers, clinicians and operational staff.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
