We offer leadership training, academic coursework, and hands-on experience to prepare students for success as Army officers. Our program emphasizes leadership, teamwork, physical fitness, and community engagement. The UT Austin Army ROTC program is seeking a highly motivated and creative Digital Marketing, Social Media, and Event Planning Intern to help us enhance our online presence, engage with the campus community, and support our recruitment efforts. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in a dynamic environment, contribute to a meaningful mission, and develop valuable skills in digital marketing, content creation, social media management, and event coordination.

  • Create compelling visual content (graphics, short videos, photos) and written copy tailored to each social media platform and target audience (prospective students, current cadets, campus community).
  • Monitor social media trends and identify opportunities for relevant and timely content creation.
  • Engage with followers, respond to comments and messages, and foster an active online community.
  • Assist in managing and updating the UT Army ROTC website, ensuring content is current, accurate, and engaging.
  • Support the development and execution of digital marketing campaigns (e.g., email newsletters, targeted ads) to reach specific demographics.
  • Track and analyze social media metrics and website traffic to assess the effectiveness of strategies and identify areas for improvement.
  • Research and recommend new digital marketing tools and strategies.

Event Planning & Support:

  • Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of various recruitment events, information sessions, and community outreach activities (e.g., campus involvement fairs, open houses, physical training demonstrations, leadership workshops).
  • Develop event promotional materials, including flyers, posters, and digital invitations.
  • Coordinate logistics for events, including venue reservations, equipment setup, and attendee registration.
  • Assist with on-site event management and provide support to ensure smooth execution.
  • Help in collecting feedback from event attendees to improve future events.
  • Collaborate with ROTC staff and cadets to identify event needs and opportunities.

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at The University of Texas at Austin, preferably in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Graphic Design, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of major social media platforms and their respective best practices.
  • Proficiency in creating engaging visual content using tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro) or similar.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and grammar.

  • Creative, proactive, and eager to learn new skills.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
