Job Description

OVERVIEW:

The Department of Bioethics and Humanities has an outstanding opportunity for a part time Research Coordinator 2 to join their team.

The department is seeking a part-time, bilingual (Spanish & English) Research Coordinator 2 to oversee the day-to-day operations of a multi-year qualitative research project examining experiences of care work in the United States. Reporting to LaTonya Trotter and working closely with the UW Principal Investigator and research team, the Research Coordinator 2 will manage the operational and logistical aspects of the study including activities related to recruitment, data collection, and analysis.

This position may be performed fully remotely within the United States, subject to University of Washington policies and approval. The position requires regular virtual communication and coordination with the Principal Investigator, research team, research assistants, study participants, and community expert board

members.

This grant-funded position is 50% FTE and is funded for up to four years, contingent upon the availability of grant funding.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project Management (30%)

  • Coordinate the day-to-day operations of the qualitative research project in collaboration with the Principal Investigator and research team.
  • Coordinate project meetings, communication, timelines, documentation, and other research activities.
  • Maintain accurate project records and track recruitment, data collection, staffing, and other project activities.
  • Coordinate communication, scheduling, and travel arrangements associated with interviews with sector-level experts and other project participants.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for project-related communication with research staff, study participants, and members of the project’s community expert board.
  • Support coordination and communication with the project’s community expert board, which includes individuals with expertise in policy, community organizing, and care work.
  • Identify operational issues and communicate them to the Principal Investigator and research team, helping to develop and implement solutions.

Recruitment and Data Collection (30%)

  • Develop and manage recruitment activities for an interview study with approximately 100 participants over the course of the project, including coordinating recruitment, screening, scheduling, and enrollment.
  • Support implementation of research protocols for participant recruitment and data collection.
  • Coordinate transcription and translation of interview materials, including oversight of Spanish-language interview materials.
  • Work closely with a Spanish-speaking research assistant to coordinate Spanish-language recruitment, interviewing, transcription, and translation activities.

Research Staff Supervision and Coordination (20%)

  • Coordinate, supervise, and support the work of research assistants and other project staff, including assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and supporting adherence to study protocols and data-management procedures.
  • Provide day-to-day direction and coordination of study recruitment, data collection, transcription, translation, and related research activities.
  • Coordinate with the research team to establish priorities, timelines, and workflows for research staff.
  • Support communication and collaboration among the Principal Investigators, Co-investigators, and a Community Advisory Board.
  • Help identify and address operational challenges affecting research activities.

Data Management, Analysis, and Research Support (20%)

  • Implement and maintain the project’s data-management procedures in collaboration with the research team.
  • Support organization, review, and quality control of qualitative research data and related project materials.
  • Participate in project data review, qualitative analysis, and interpretation in collaboration with the Principal Investigator and research team.
  • Support the organization and preparation of research materials and project documentation.
  • Perform other duties related to the successful completion of the research project as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

To be considered for this opportunity your application must demonstrate you meet both the minimum qualifications and additional qualifications listed below. Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and two years of relevant experience, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Applicants who do not meet these qualifications WILL NOT be forwarded to the Hiring Manager.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two years of experience coordinating research projects or other complex projects involving multiple activities, deadlines, and participants.
  • Fluency in spoken and written Spanish and English.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple tasks, timelines, and priorities with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while working closely with a team.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow research protocols and data-management procedures.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience coordinating research with human subjects.
  • Experience with recruitment of research participants.
  • Experience working with Spanish-speaking members of the general public.
  • Experience working on health, healthcare, social science, or related research.

Compensation, Benefits and Position Details

Pay Range Minimum:

$65,352.00 annual

Pay Range Maximum:

$72,900.00 annual
