The manager guides and develops a team, investigates complex issues across financial and operational systems, and turns findings into practical improvements. This is an opportunity to shape more reliable, efficient, and scalable processes while partnering across a growing life sciences organization.

Key Responsibilities

Revenue Accounting, Accruals & Financial Close

  • Own the timely execution and review of assigned monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue accounting and close deliverables, coordinating dependencies and resolving blockers proactively.
  • Oversee and perform revenue reviews, accrual and deferral analyses, reserves, estimates, account reconciliations, and other revenue-related accounting activities.
  • Prepare or review journal entries, revenue-related balance sheet accounts, and supporting schedules; confirm completeness, appropriate classification, and clear audit trails.
  • Investigate and resolve financial statement variances, historical accounting discrepancies, and aged reconciling items; quantify exposure and document conclusions.
  • Apply strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, ASC 606, and relevant policies; identify complex accounting questions and coordinate conclusions and approvals with Controllership.
  • Review relevant customer contract provisions and amendments for billing, funding, and accounting impacts; partner with Legal, Client Services, and Controllership where interpretation is required.

Billing, Prefunding & Order-to-Cash Operations

  • Lead accurate and timely billing for assigned client programs, including administrative fees, contracted services, claims- and reimbursement-related invoices, credits, and adjustments.
  • Oversee controls that confirm the completeness of billable programs, contractual rates, billing schedules, source data, and supporting approvals.
  • Manage financial oversight of client prefunds, funding utilization, replenishments, outstanding checks, reimbursements, refunds, and program closeouts.
  • Oversee reconciliations across customer billing, claims, payment/disbursement activity, bank and cash records, operational reports, and general ledger balances.
  • Partner with Treasury and other teams to resolve unapplied cash, open receivables, aged items, credit balances, and collection-related exceptions.
  • Support financial readiness for program launches, contract amendments, operational transitions, and program terminations.

Financial Analysis, Controls & Process Improvement

  • Analyze large, complex datasets to explain revenue fluctuations, billing discrepancies, cash and prefund activity, and unusual program results; recommend corrective actions.
  • Build accurate, decision-useful reporting on invoicing timeliness, unbilled revenue, receivables, reconciliation aging, funding balances, and close status.
  • Strengthen reconciliations, segregation of duties, review evidence, approval workflows, and financial controls; maintain audit-ready support.
  • Document and standardize procedures, ownership, and handoffs across order-to-cash; identify and remove recurring manual work.
  • Partner with Technology, Transformation, and Finance teams on NetSuite, financial reporting, data quality, and automation initiatives.

People Leadership & Business Partnership

  • Lead, coach, cross-train, and review the work of assigned accounting and finance professionals, setting clear expectations and ensuring dependable coverage.
  • Serve as an accountable financial partner to Controllership, Client Services, Operations, Treasury, FP&A, and Technology on assigned client programs.
  • Communicate financial risks, root causes, corrective actions, and progress to the Director, Commercial Finance; escalate material issues promptly.

Required Qualifications

  • Advanced Excel and analytical skills; proven ability to reconcile high-volume information across an ERP and multiple operational/reporting systems.
  • Experience developing staff, prioritizing critical deadlines, strengthening controls, and partnering across functions.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
