The posting

VGS is seeking a Full-Time Maintenance Mechanic with recent leadership or past working experience with facilities maintenance and operations supporting military installations to support our operations and maintenance requirements at Winn Army Community Hospital on Ft. Stewart, Ga.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs general maintenance and repairs of installed equipment and systems to ensure the successful operation of boilers, compressors, refrigeration equipment, generators, air-conditioning facilities and all appurtenant equipment that is driven by steam, electricity, gas, air, diesel, water or any other power developing energy.
  • Patrols, inspects, and maintains all mechanical, HVAC, electrical, piping and plumbing systems and equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance as appropriate. May effect repairs on toilet facilities, registers, radiators, lights, fixtures, floors.
  • Maintains the general cleanliness and appearance of assigned spaces, assists others as part of the maintenance team as required.
  • Maintain all records for any maintenance and repairs to be completed and submit in a timely manner.
  • Observe and follow all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment.
  • Perform all other position related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to work flexible hours to include weekends.
  • Must maintain a valid state driver license.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instruction, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to drive/walk/travel to various locations within the facility and satellite locations

QHSE REQUIREMENTS

  • Take reasonable care for the Health and Safety of yourself and other persons who may be affected by your actions or omissions.
  • Conform to all Safety Instructions given by those with a higher responsibility for Health and Safety.
  • Report all hazards, potential hazards or dangerous situations, including damaged or mislaid personal protective equipment to your Supervisor or Safety Representative.
  • Report Environmental impacts, anything that results in a change to the Environment as a result of Valiant's activities, products or services.
  • Participate in the achievement of Valiant's QHSE objectives and targets, both those at departmental and company level.
