A Brief Summary of This Position:

The Product Analyst Intern will support Valley Irrigation Product Management by turning product, sales, and inventory data into accurate, actionable insights. This part-time role runs through the fall 2026 and spring 2027 academic terms and is designed for a college student who enjoys working with large data sets, building clear reports, and presenting recommendations to product and commercial leaders. The position may be performed on-site or remotely following an initial in-person orientation, with occasional office check-ins.

Essential Functions:

• Analyze product, sales, and inventory data at the SKU and part-number level to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.

• Build and maintain standardized Excel workbooks, pivot tables, data queries, and repeatable reporting tables for management review.

• Apply inventory aging measures and product life-cycle concepts to evaluate product health and inventory exposure.

• Identify mature or declining products that may require obsolescence review, forecast-methodology review, reduced forecast status, liquidation pricing, or scrap and inventory-disposal decisions.

• Use approved analytical and artificial intelligence tools, where appropriate, to analyze data, summarize insights, create charts, and support data-driven presentations.

• Develop clear charts, graphs, written summaries, and recommendations for senior product managers and commercial team members.

• Validate data accuracy, reconcile inconsistencies, and document data sources, assumptions, and analysis methods.

• Present findings, answer questions, and revise analysis based on stakeholder feedback.

• Report to Troy Long, VP of Hardware Product and Warranty; this position has no direct or indirect reports.

Other Important Details about the Role:

• Work part time during the fall 2026 and spring 2027 academic terms on a schedule coordinated with the manager and the student's academic commitments.

• Collaborate with product managers and commercial team members to clarify business questions and convert them into structured analyses.

• Maintain organized source files, analysis workbooks, and reporting formats so results can be reviewed and reused.

• Manage multiple assignments, communicate progress and risks, and meet agreed deadlines with limited supervision.

• Participate in team meetings, an initial in-person orientation, and occasional in-office check-ins when working remotely.

• Handle business and product information with appropriate care and confidentiality.

• No routine travel is required.

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate:

• Currently enrolled college student who expects to remain enrolled through the spring 2027 academic term.

• Pursuing a degree in business analytics, data science, finance, economics, engineering, supply chain, product management, or another analytical field.

• Available for part-time work during both the fall 2026 and spring 2027 academic terms.

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, formulas, data cleaning, and manipulation of large data sets.

• Familiarity with data queries and the ability to organize data from multiple sources.

• Strong analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills.

• High attention to detail and a demonstrated ability to produce accurate work.

• Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the confidence to explain findings and recommendations.

• Ability to work independently, collaborate with others, prioritize assignments, and meet deadlines.

• Ability to complete an initial in-person orientation and attend occasional in-office check-ins if working remotely.

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:

• Experience using approved artificial intelligence tools to analyze data, summarize findings, or create charts and presentation content, preferred.

• Experience with inventory aging, product life-cycle analysis, or product, sales, and inventory data, preferred.

• Microsoft PowerPoint experience and the ability to convert analysis into concise management-ready slides, preferred.

• Interest in progressing into a Product Analyst, Product Manager, data science, or analytics career, preferred.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
