Solar PV Technical Surveyor
Location: Rochester, Kent – Field-Based Job Type: Permanent | Full-Time Sector: Renewable Energy | Solar PV | Battery Storage
Looking to take your solar or electrical experience in a new direction?
Valoris Group is recruiting a Solar PV Technical Surveyor to join an established and growing renewable energy specialist.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a background in solar PV, electrical installations or technical surveying who wants to move into a more technical, site-assessment-focused position.
No sales targets. No sales pressure. Just a hands-on technical role in a growing industry.
The Role
You'll visit domestic properties to assess their suitability for solar PV and battery storage installations, gathering the technical information needed to ensure projects are designed and installed correctly.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Conducting technical site surveys for domestic solar PV and battery storage systems.
- Assessing roof space, measurements, shading and potential panel layouts.
- Identifying suitable inverter, battery and cable route locations.
- Inspecting existing consumer units, meter positions and electrical arrangements.
- Identifying potential installation challenges before work begins.
- Taking site photographs, measurements and detailed technical notes.
- Producing accurate survey reports for design and installation teams.
- Liaising with engineers, designers and installation teams to ensure smooth project delivery.
What We're Looking For
- A practical, technically minded individual with excellent attention to detail.
- An understanding of electrical installations, solar PV or building layouts.
- Confidence taking measurements and identifying installation challenges.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Comfortable using tablets, smartphones and digital reporting systems.
- Full UK driving licence.
Highly Desirable:
- Previous solar PV surveying or installation experience.
- Electrical installation or inspection background.
- Knowledge of inverters, battery storage and domestic electrical systems.
- Experience using solar surveying software or technical reporting tools.
Currently working as an Electrician or Solar PV Installer?
If you're looking to step away from installation work and transition into a technical surveying position, we'd love to hear from you. Previous surveying experience isn't essential if you have the right technical understanding and attitude.
Why Apply?
- No sales responsibilities or targets – a purely technical position.
- Opportunity to transition from hands-on installations into technical surveying.
- Work within the rapidly growing solar and battery storage industry.
- Variety of site visits and renewable energy projects.
- Join an experienced team with opportunities to develop your technical knowledge.
Interested?
Whether you're an experienced Solar PV Surveyor, an Electrician or a Solar Installer ready for a change, this could be your next career move.
