The posting

Job Description:

An opportunity for an Aircraft Performance Engineer - External Performance Models (BADA / ANP) has arisen within Airbus Operations, Getafe (Madrid).

The selected candidate will join the In-Flight Performance and Operations team within Airbus Engineering Aircraft Performance. Aircraft Performance is at the heart of the aeronautic industry and a key decision criterion for airlines.

Our subdomain is responsible for modeling, evaluating, and simulating aircraft operational performance, acting as the reference for data-driven analysis to optimize flight operations, flight safety, and in-service support for airlines and aeronautical stakeholders.

The jobholder will act as the primary owner and central point of contact for External Aircraft Performance Models (such as BADA and ANP), bridging strategic governance with deep technical validation and driving the long-term improvement roadmap.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The main tasks of the jobholder will be:

  • Serve as primary focal point and lead strategic governance for external partners (Eurocontrol, EASA) and internal stakeholders, managing queries, licensing, decision boards, and improvement roadmaps.
  • Execute technical validation and risk assessment by designing in-depth studies to compare external model outputs against Airbus reference data and quantify accuracy deviations.
  • Develop and maintain internal automation tools using Python and scripting languages to ensure robust model comparison, validation, and assessment processes.
  • Manage ANP dataset generation and validation for EASA and internal stakeholders, ensuring all dataset outputs meet required quality standards.
  • Monitor the broader ecosystem landscape (TIM, Piano, OpenAP, EU Flight Label, EEA, CO2 calculators) to identify service opportunities, technical risks, and market intelligence.
  • Animate the internal community and knowledge management by creating technical notes, defining oriented-usage guidelines, and sharing best practices across Airbus teams.

SKILLS

Is your profile aligned to the following list of skills? Apply! We are looking forward to knowing you:

  • Education: Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline degree.
  • Experience: More than 3 years of professional experience in aircraft performance modeling principles or related engineering environments.
  • Technical knowledge: Advanced proficiency in Python or similar scripting languages for tool development, technical autonomy in troubleshooting, and strong analytical rigor in scientific data comparison.
  • Languages: Advanced level in English.
  • Soft skills: Project management capabilities, proactivity to identify opportunities and escalate technical alerts, and strong communication skills to synthesize complex technical data.
  • Valuable / Nice to have: Familiarity with external industry benchmarks and environmental performance models (such as BADA, ANP, OpenAP, or CO2 calculators).

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
