The posting

Business Area Wind is responsible for Vattenfall’s Onshore and Offshore Wind as well as other non-hydro Renewable activities like solar PV and batteries. Today we develop, construct and operate wind generation in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK. In addition, we have a clear strategy to develop our solar PV and battery operations further.

Within Business Unit Offshore, Project Execution is responsible for the contracting and execution of our construction projects. Our vision is to stay ahead of the competition by safely constructing next-generation offshore wind farms and leveraging our expertise during the planning and contracting phases to ensure successful project delivery.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Construction Engineer to join our Construction Management team. You will independently lead assigned work scopes and contribute to the safe, technically sound, commercially disciplined and timely delivery of offshore construction activities across planning, procurement, execution, logistics and close-out.

Your Responsibilities:

As Senior Construction Engineer, you will lead assigned Construction Management work scopes supporting the offshore construction and commissioning of an offshore wind farm. Reporting to the Construction Manager, you will manage each scope from initial concept and specification development through procurement, contract implementation, execution and close-out, with accountability for recommendations and deliverables within agreed budget, schedule, quality and HSE requirements.

Typical scopes include:

  • Interim maintenance services and offshore maintenance campaigns
  • Commissioning Service Operation Vessels (CSOV)
  • Crew Transfer Vessels (CTV)
  • Guard vessels
  • Temporary Aids to Navigation (AtoN)
  • Offshore site setup and construction base harbour facilities
  • Communication systems and offshore coordination tools
  • Marine coordination support services
  • Construction management documentation and operational procedures
  • Additional construction management scopes as required during project execution

You will:

  • Take full ownership of assigned scopes, including technical definition, procurement support, contract implementation, budget control, schedule management and contractor follow-up.
  • Develop technical specifications, scopes of work, evaluation criteria and technical recommendations for procurement processes.
  • Manage contractors throughout engineering, mobilisation and offshore execution phases and ensure contractual deliverables are achieved.
  • Review contractor engineering documentation, procedures, risk assessments, work packs and marine operational documentation to verify compliance, technical quality and readiness for execution.
  • Develop and maintain Construction Management procedures and operational documentation, including marine operations procedures, offshore site descriptions, construction work plans and readiness documentation.
  • Coordinate interfaces between contractors, package managers, site management, marine coordination, O&M and external stakeholders.
  • Support offshore campaign execution by providing technical input to site and offshore management teams and helping resolve operational issues, including simultaneous operations.
  • Ensure compliance with project requirements, HSE standards, marine regulations and permit conditions throughout all project phases.
  • Capture and implement lessons learned from offshore campaigns and transfer knowledge across the wider Project Execution organisation.
  • Establish and manage assigned parts of the Construction Management contract portfolio, including vessel, maintenance, offshore support and site-facility contracts. Take responsibility for scope, cost, schedule, contractor performance and change control.

Location: The position can be based in Kolding (Denmark), Hamburg (Germany) or Amsterdam (Netherlands).

You will work in an international project environment and collaborate regularly with colleagues, contractors and project teams across our offshore locations. The role requires regular travel and periods of work at project, harbour and offshore locations. The frequency and duration will depend on the project phase and assigned work scopes.

Qualifications

Your Profile:

You are an experienced offshore professional who can independently lead complex technical work scopes and work effectively across multidisciplinary and international teams.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A relevant engineering degree or equivalent technical qualification, together with fluent written and spoken English. Relevant offshore training and certifications are expected for the assigned work scopes.
  • Clear communication, collaborative leadership and sound commercial judgement, with the ability to structure complex work, set priorities, make evidence-based decisions and drive improvement.
  • At least eight years of relevant experience in offshore construction, offshore wind, marine operations or comparable offshore industries, including responsibility for complex technical work scopes.
  • Demonstrated experience managing technical work scopes from early engineering through procurement, contract implementation and offshore execution.
  • Strong understanding of offshore construction interfaces and vessel operations, including foundations, cables, WTGs, CSOVs, CTVs, marine logistics, contractor mobilisation, marine coordination and operational readiness.
  • Practical experience coordinating contractors and multiple work scopes in a live offshore construction environment.
  • The ability to identify technical, operational and logistical risks at an early stage and proactively implement mitigation measures.
  • Strong knowledge of HSE management, risk assessment methodologies, marine regulations and permit conditions, with demonstrated experience applying them during offshore planning and execution.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to work effectively with contractors, package teams, site management and O&M organisations.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
