The posting

Company Description

Vattenfall is a leading European energy company driving the transition to a sustainable energy system. We have been electrifying industries, powering homes and transforming life through innovation for more than 100 years. We employ around 21 000 people mostly in our core markets in Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, and the UK.

Job Description

Do you want to create lasting value for communities while helping shape Denmark's fossil-free future?

We are looking for an experienced and strategic Senior Stakeholder Engagement Manager to play a leading role in the development of the Hesselø offshore wind project, one of Denmark's most significant future renewable energy projects.

The Hesselø offshore wind project is located in the Kattegat Sea between Denmark and Sweden, approximately 30 kilometres from the coast, with a minimum installed capacity of 800 MW. The project includes both offshore and onshore infrastructure and will make a significant contribution to Denmark's future fossil-free energy production.

As Senior Stakeholder Engagement Manager, you will help ensure that the project is developed in close collaboration with local communities, stakeholders and partners. You will lead stakeholder engagement activities throughout the development process, helping create understanding, trust and meaningful dialogue while supporting the successful delivery of this strategically important infrastructure project.

You will act as one of the project's key representatives and serve as a bridge between the project organisation and external stakeholders, ensuring that local insights, concerns and opportunities are incorporated into decision-making processes.

Working closely with colleagues across Consenting, Communications, Public & Regulatory Affairs, Development, Environmental functions and Project Delivery, you will help shape how Vattenfall engages with communities, authorities and stakeholders throughout the project's lifecycle.

Be in your element with BA Wind

As part of BA Wind you will play a key role in one of the most exciting pipelines in the industry with 24GW of capacity stretching out more than a decade ahead across our key European markets.

You won’t only be involved in developing projects but pioneering cutting-edge innovation, new business models and ways of working with communities and the environment. Working as part of a leading European utility also means you could be helping a growing number of major businesses and brands achieve their own sustainability goals through partnerships.

Qualifications

What will you do?

As Senior Stakeholder Engagement Manager, you will design and implement stakeholder engagement and communication strategies that support project development, permitting and long-term success. This includes mapping and analysing stakeholder interests, developing engagement plans and ensuring that activities meet regulatory requirements while going beyond compliance.

You will build and maintain trusted relationships with communities, municipalities, authorities, NGOs, industry organisations, businesses, landowners and other stakeholders. As a key point of contact, you will facilitate constructive dialogue, capture feedback and ensure that local insights are reflected in project decision-making.

You will also create clear content for project channels and public meetings, provide transparent and timely information, and strengthen local understanding of offshore wind. Working closely with Public & Regulatory Affairs, Communications, Environmental teams and Project Delivery, Yyou will identify opportunities to maximise local value creation and positive social impact.

Your responsibilities will include:

Stakeholder Engagement & Consultation

  • Design and deliver consultation activities and public participation processes throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for local communities, interest groups and key stakeholders. Facilitating constructive dialogue and good neighbourship, creating understanding and trust between projects and local communities.
  • Build trusted relationships and ensure stakeholder feedback is effectively integrated into project decision-making.
  • Deliver meaningful stakeholder involvement that meets regulatory requirements and supports Vattenfall's ambition to go beyond compliance; identifying and supporting opportunities for local value creation.

Communications & Community Relations

  • Ensure communities and stakeholders receive transparent, accurate and timely information throughout project development and delivery.
  • Identify and support initiatives that enhance local value creation, community benefits and understanding of offshore wind.

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Represent Vattenfall at stakeholder forums, public events and consultation meetings, while supporting alignment across Hesselø, other Danish developments and the operational offshore wind portfolio.
  • Contribute to supplier, local supply chain and landowner engagement activities where required.
  • You will work in alignment and collaboration with the wider (Danish) Stakeholder Engagement team and their activities towards our development and operational portfolio.

Who are you?

You are an experienced stakeholder engagement professional who enjoys building relationships, creating trust and finding solutions in complex environments. With at least five years of relevant experience from major infrastructure, renewable energy or sustainable development projects, you understand that successful projects depend as much on people and communities as on technology and engineering. You have worked with external stakeholders such as communities, municipalities, NGOs, businesses and landowners, and you are confident developing engagement programmes, communication strategies and clear content for different audiences. You combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution and are comfortable navigating multiple interests, perspectives and priorities across development, permitting, construction or operational phases. As a natural relationship builder, you communicate clearly, listen attentively and remain calm and constructive in sensitive discussions. You are structured, proactive and collaborative, and motivated by the opportunity to contribute to the energy transition while creating positive outcomes for communities and society.

Next to this, you bring:

  • A university degree in Communications, Community Development, Psychology, International Development, Political Science, Social Sciences or a related discipline.
  • At least five years of experience in stakeholder engagement, community relations, communications or public consultation within major infrastructure, renewable energy or sustainable development projects.
  • Strong understanding of stakeholder engagement across project development, permitting, construction or operational phases.
  • Strong relationship-building, facilitation, influencing and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Excellent Danish and English language skills, both written and spoken.
  • Experience from offshore wind, renewable energy or major infrastructure projects is an advantage, particularly involving permitting or consenting processes or engagement with marine users, fisheries, environmental organisations, coastal communities, regulatory bodies or political stakeholders.

Location

Copenhagen or Kolding (DK). Frequent travel to project-relevant locations and occasional international travel required. You will be part of an international team.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
