vConstruct is seeking a Technical Manager II to provide advanced technical leadership across multiple Structural Steel detailing projects.

This role focuses on technical governance, mentoring Technical Managers, establishing detailing standards, driving quality improvement, and ensuring consistent technical excellence across project teams. The successful candidate will serve as a senior technical resource, supporting complex projects, strategic initiatives, and organizational technical development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership across multiple projects and project teams.
  • Mentor and support Technical Managers and technical and project production staff.
  • Establish and maintain company detailing standards and BIM workflows.
  • Review technically complex models, drawings, and detailing solutions.
  • Lead constructability reviews and technical risk assessments.
  • Drive quality assurance, technical governance, and process standardization.
  • Support strategic client meetings and major project pursuits.
  • Collaborate with Project Manager II's and Senior Project Managers on project execution strategies.
  • Lead technical training initiatives and knowledge-sharing programs.
  • Promote innovation, automation, and continuous improvement across technical teams.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and digital construction solutions.

Success in this role means creating technical consistency across multiple projects while developing Technical Managers into future technical leaders.

  • Build an organization where technical standards are consistently applied across projects.
  • Mentor Technical Managers to confidently lead technical delivery.
  • Improve constructability, quality, and fabrication readiness across multiple project teams.
  • Reduce recurring technical issues through governance, coaching, and standardization.
  • Strengthen collaboration between Technical Managers, Project Managers, and Operations Leadership.
  • Champion innovation, Detailing and BIM best practices, and continuous technical improvement.
  • Build trusted relationships with clients through technical credibility and expertise.
  • Enhance organizational capability through training, mentoring, and technical leadership.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
  • More than 16 years of experience in Structural Steel detailing or VDC.
  • Proven experience mentoring technical leaders and managing technical standards.
  • Extensive experience supporting complex construction projects.
