vConstruct, a Pune-based Construction Technology company, is seeking a Senior Detailer with strong structural steel detailing expertise and advanced proficiency in the Tekla Structures drawing environment. This role is responsible for preparing, revising, and coordinating accurate fabrication, erection, and field work drawings to support efficient steel fabrication and erection.
The Senior Detailer works closely with Modelers, Checkers, Project Leads, and other project stakeholders to deliver high-quality drawing packages in accordance with project requirements, client standards, fabrication practices, and applicable codes. The role also provides technical guidance to other detailers and contributes to drawing quality, revision control, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Support project initiation, project drawing setup, preparation of drawing package estimates.
- Review structural drawings, client detailing standards, and other design information to understand project and client requirements to help establish necessary documentation for effective 2D detailing.
- Support project delivery planning by coordinating detailing tasks, internal schedules, planned hours, and milestone requirements.
- Prepare, modify, and maintain accurate structural steel shop fabrication, erection, and field work drawings using Tekla Structures, in accordance with project requirements and established detailing standards.
- Generate General Arrangement (GA) drawings for anchor bolt plans, Erection plans and other project-specific drawing deliverables as required.
- Perform detailed self-checks before submitting drawings for review. Identify discrepancies and potential fabrication or erection issues before drawing release. Address comments from Checkers, Engineers, and other stakeholders, and implement corrective actions to minimize drawing errors, revisions, and downstream rework.
- Coordinate with Checkers, Modelers, Project Leads and other project team members to resolve drawing-related questions, discrepancies, and technical issues in a timely manner.
- Incorporate approved RFIs, design revisions, engineering updates, field changes, and client comments into drawing packages in a controlled and traceable manner.
- Complete assigned drawing deliverables in line with project schedules and milestones. Communicate drawing-related challenges, revision requirements, and potential delivery impacts to the appropriate project team members.
- Ensure revisions are correctly identified, clouded, tagged, and documented in accordance with project and client requirements. Maintain revision histories, drawing logs, transmittals, and issue records to support effective document control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate with checkers to identify opportunities to improve drawing quality, productivity, consistency, and delivery efficiency. Maintain a strong focus on first-pass quality and minimizing downstream rework.
- Provide technical guidance and best-practice recommendations to Junior Detailers and Detailers. Share knowledge of drawing preparation, revision practices, fabrication requirements, and detailing standards.
- Apply project standards, drawing templates, revision procedures, and established workflows consistently. Contribute to improvements in detailing procedures, templates, drawing automation, quality, and productivity.

Required Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent relevant experience may also be considered.
- 4+ years of experience in structural steel detailing, with substantial experience in 2D drawing production.
- Extensive hands-on experience preparing and revising fabrication, erection, and field work drawings using the Tekla Structures drawing environment.
- Good understanding of structural steel fabrication, erection practices, and drawing requirements.
- Working knowledge of AISC standards and U.S. structural steel detailing practices.
- Ability to interpret structural drawings, RFIs, design revisions, and other construction documents.
Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in the Tekla Structures drawing environment.
- Structural steel fabrication and shop drawing preparation.
- Erection drawings, GA drawings, and anchor bolt plans.
- Field work drawing creation and revision.
- Understanding of structural steel connections, fabrication requirements, and constructability.
- Knowledge of AISC standards and U.S. structural steel detailing practices.
- Proficiency in Bluebeam or similar review and markup tools.
- Strong drawing quality control and self-review skills.
- Drawing revision management, change tracking, and document control.
- Familiarity with Tekla drawing templates, reports, and automation tools.
Preferred Skills
- Experience mentoring and guiding Junior Detailers and Detailers.
- Familiarity with structural steel fabrication workflows and shop practices.
- Experience working on U.S. structural steel projects.
- Knowledge of Tekla drawing automation, templates, reports, and workflow optimization.
