The posting

We're a growing team, and as we scale, so does our need to expand our engineering team. You'll be joining a people-focused company as a Software Engineer on Vendavo's Enterprise CPQ (eCPQ) platform — a greenfield, event-sourced, cloud-native product being built on AWS, while our established CPQ and Pricepoint products continue to serve customers in production.

This is a backend-focused role on a platform built around event sourcing and CQRS: aggregates, commands, events and projections, with services communicating through streamed events rather than shared databases. If you haven't worked this way before, that's fine — we care that you've built solid .NET services, that you think carefully about data and failure modes, and that you want to learn this properly. You'll have senior engineers alongside you, an explicit event model to work from, and a codebase where the patterns are already established.

You'll also work with AI coding agents every day. That's not a bonus here — it's how the team ships, and we expect you to be comfortable with it and critical about it.

THE OPPORTUNITY

  • Build and extend event-sourced .NET services on .NET 10 / ASP.NET Core, deployed to AWS EKS behind an Istio service mesh
  • Implement aggregates, commands, events and read-model projections using Marten (PostgreSQL event store) and Wolverine (command handling and messaging)
  • Implement vertical slices from the event model through to a working feature — backend handlers, projections, GraphQL API and the React screens that use them — with design support from senior engineers on the harder calls
  • Build GraphQL APIs with Hot Chocolate, including filtering, sorting, pagination and multi-tenant request handling
  • Work with AWS Kinesis streams and Amazon MSK (Kafka) for cross-service integration, and learn to design handlers that are idempotent and safe to replay
  • Read and update the team's event models (draw.io), keeping them in step with the code, and take part in the modelling sessions where new slices are shaped
  • Work with the Terraform infrastructure and Helm deployments for your services, and with the Azure DevOps pipelines that build, deploy and test them — extending both under review
  • Use AI coding agents as a normal part of delivery: the shared ecpq-skills plugin, per-repo CLAUDE.md/AGENTS.md conventions, and AI-assisted PR review — with your own judgement on top of the output
  • Contribute to the React 18 + TypeScript frontend (urql, TanStack Query, Vite) when a feature needs full-stack delivery
  • Write meaningful tests, instrument what you build, and take part in code and design reviews
  • Contribute to the modernization of the established CPQ and Pricepoint products, including moving business logic out of SQL Server stored procedures into maintainable .NET code

THE SKILL SET

  • AI-assisted engineering — expected, not optional
  • 3+ years of backend development in modern .NET (.NET 6 or newer) Working understanding of Domain-Driven Design and CQRS, and a real appetite to go deeper into event sourcing — projections, eventual consistency, idempotent handlers. We'll teach the specifics; you bring the instinct for modelling a domain properly
  • Comfort with asynchronous and message-driven code — queues, streams, retries, and what happens when a message arrives twice or out of order
  • Solid SQL and relational data modelling; PostgreSQL experience preferred
  • Experience building HTTP or GraphQL APIs that someone else consumes, and care about how they behave under error
  • Docker and working familiarity with Kubernetes — enough to read a Helm chart, find your pod and read its logs
  • Exposure to a major cloud, ideally AWS (IAM, S3, EKS, Secrets Manager)
  • CI/CD pipelines — Azure DevOps preferred — and Git-based workflows with PR review and required checks
  • Testing you'd defend: xUnit, integration tests against real dependencies, and a view on what's worth mocking
  • Regular hands-on use of an AI coding agent (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor or equivalent) on real code, not demos
  • Ability to break a ticket into steps an agent can execute, then review the output critically — spotting invented APIs, quiet behaviour changes and missing edge cases
  • Willingness to keep agent context files (CLAUDE.md, AGENTS.md or equivalent) current, and to use the team's shared skills rather than working around them
  • Full ownership of anything you merge, regardless of who or what wrote the first draft

THE BENEFITS

  • Working within a team of friendly, skilled people where help is always within reach
  • Professional growth and development opportunities
  • Use of modern tools and access to experts
  • Team spirit in the workplace, and fun team activities
  • Opportunities to learn a new field and get a deep understanding of enterprise tech
  • Flexible working hours without micromanagement
  • Personal freedom and focus on individual responsibility
  • Company-sponsored events for employees, volunteer tech talks, and tournaments
  • Weekly English classes, international travel opportunities
  • 25 days of paid vacation + 4 additional company days off to recharge your batteries (1 day each quarter) + 3 sick days + 2 days paid for charity activities
  • Monthly benefits allowance, meal contributions
  • MultiSport card available
  • Modern cozy offices in Prague, Hradec Kralove, and Ostrava, no large open-space floors or cubicles, rec room with games and books
  • High-end laptop (Windows or Mac) and smartphone (Samsung S or iPhone), including personal use
  • Option to use discounted unlimited mobile plan for family members

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
