The posting
Venture Dynamics is seeking skilled Electro-Mechanical Service Technicians to troubleshoot, repair, overhaul, and test valves, actuators, pumps, and control systems in shop and shipyard settings. The Electro-Mechanical Service Technician diagnoses both electrical and mechanical faults on equipment supporting Navy and commercial vessels, working independently from initial inspection through final testing. This role suits experienced valve and actuator technicians who can find the root cause instead of swapping parts. Assignments are project-based and may continue based on performance and contract demand, with the potential for long-term placement or permanent hire with select clients.
Per diem may be available depending on contract requirements and travel distance.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, inspect, repair, and overhaul valves, actuators, pumps, and control systems.
- Disassemble, measure, repair, and reassemble mechanical and electromechanical equipment to specification.
- Perform functional and performance testing on repaired equipment before return to service.
- Provide field service as an electro-mechanical service technician aboard Navy ships, commercial vessels, and industrial sites, including emergency service calls.
- Read and work from drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Assist with installation, commissioning, and startup of equipment.
- Complete service reports, inspection records, and maintenance documentation for each job.
- Follow ISO 9001 quality standards and site safety requirements.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience as an electro-mechanical service technician or in valve, actuator, pump, or controls repair in a marine, industrial, or rotating equipment environment.
- Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot systematically and work independently.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
- U.S. citizenship.
- Valid driver's license and high school diploma or GED.
- Ability to travel approximately 50% of the time, primarily to Gulf Coast shipyards.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
Preferred Qualifications
- Navy, shipyard, or industrial maintenance experience.
- Prior Navy service as an Electrician's Mate (EM), Interior Communications Electrician (IC), or Machinist's Mate (MM).
- Experience with Rotork, Limitorque, Flowserve, Leslie, Eaton, or similar equipment.
- Technical school, military training, or related certifications.
Additional Information
Work is performed in both shop and field environments, including aboard vessels and in active shipyard and industrial areas. Duties involve working on and around energized, pressurized, and rotating equipment. Exposure to industrial noise, outdoor conditions, hydraulic fluids, grease, dust, fumes, and variable work environments is expected; respiratory protection may be required based on task or location. PPE, including steel-toe boots, is required in accordance with site safety policies. Work schedules may include overtime, weekends, and variable hours based on workload and service calls. Reliable transportation is required to report to the assigned shop location and field service sites.
