The posting

Venture Dynamics is seeking an experienced WAF Coordinator to support Navy and commercial ship repair operations by administering and coordinating the Work Authorization Form (WAF) process. The WAF Coordinator ensures controlled work activities—including hot work, energy isolation, testing, and system restoration—are properly authorized, documented, executed, and closed in accordance with JFMM, NAVSEA, and shipyard requirements. This role serves as a liaison between production teams, safety personnel, and ship’s force in active shipyard environments. Work is performed aboard vessels, in dry docks, and within industrial facilities supporting repair availabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, review, process, track, and close Work Authorization Forms supporting ship repair and maintenance activities
  • Verify work scopes to determine required authorizations, permits, inspections, and safety controls
  • Ensure WAF execution complies with JFMM, NAVSEA Standard Items, and shipyard authorization requirements
  • Coordinate hot work, confined space, tag-out/lock-out, testing, and system restoration activities
  • Serve as liaison between contractors, production supervision, safety teams, and ship’s force
  • Resolve work conflicts related to system isolation, sequencing, or restoration using drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
  • Maintain accurate WAF logs, status trackers, and supporting documentation
  • Monitor active work areas to confirm authorized work aligns with approved WAF conditions
  • Identify, document, and escalate WAF discrepancies or violations as required
  • Support audits, inspections, and compliance reviews related to work authorization processes

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of shipyard or ship repair experience in production, maintenance, safety, or coordination roles
  • Demonstrated experience working with Work Authorization Forms, tag-out systems, or controlled work processes
  • Working knowledge of JFMM, NAVSEA Standard Items, and shipyard authorization practices
  • Ability to read and interpret work specifications, drawings, schematics, and technical manuals
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively with ship’s force, contractors, and multiple departments
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DBIDS or required Navy base access credentials
  • Ability to pass background screening and drug testing per customer requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a WAF Coordinator, Tag-Out Coordinator, Hot Work Coordinator, or similar role
  • Former U.S. Navy personnel with shipboard maintenance or repair experience
  • OSHA 10 Maritime certification
  • Experience supporting Navy vessel repair or modernization projects

Additional Information

Work is performed in active shipyard and shipboard environments. The role requires walking vessels, accessing confined or industrial spaces, and coordinating with production teams. Exposure to industrial noise and active work zones is expected. PPE is required in accordance with site safety policies. Work schedules may include overtime, nights, weekends, and variable shifts depending on production requirements.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
