The Role

  • Maintain accurate daily financial records using Xero and Sage, including sales and purchase ledgers through Dext.
  • Process and reconcile bank, credit card, and petty cash transactions to ensure financial accuracy.
  • Record payroll journals from internal systems or external providers and post month-end entries such as accruals and prepayments.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including control and intercompany accounts.
  • Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns in compliance with HMRCs Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirements.
  • Ensure correct VAT treatment for all transactions and maintain proper audit trails for compliance.
  • Produce monthly and quarterly management reports including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow forecasts, and budget variance reports.
  • Collaborate with teams and clients on budgeting, forecasting, and delivering financial performance insights.

The Person

  • Part-qualified CA, ACCA, or CIMA.
  • 2–3 years experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role, ideally within a UK accountancy firm.
  • Proficient in Xero, Sage, Dext, and advanced Excel.
  • Solid understanding of UK VAT rules and general compliance requirements.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage deadlines across multiple clients.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial data clearly.
  • Knowledge of FRS 102 and FRS 105 is an added advantage.
