The Position:

Veracyte is seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and detail-oriented Equipment Operations Engineer II to join our Equipment Engineering and Operations team at our South San Francisco headquarters.

The Equipment Operations Engineer II supports reliability, compliance, and operational availability of laboratory equipment across clinical and research environments in adherence to Veracyte’s equipment lifecycle management program. The scope of equipment includes a diverse range of assets such as liquid handlers, spectrophotometers, analyzers, and more.

The ideal candidate will bring a collaborative spirit and work cross-functionally with teams in Automation, Product Development, Quality, and Clinical Operations. Under general guidance, the Equipment Operations Engineer II applies technical knowledge to resolve routine issues, maintain equipment records, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that support reliable laboratory operations.

This is a full-time, non-exempt, onsite role, with a schedule of Tuesday - Saturday, 9am - 5pm.

Responsibilities:

  • Support optimization and adherence to the equipment lifecycle program and processes from procurement, installation, qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ), calibration, and preventive maintenance to decommissioning.
  • Independently manage equipment systems, including internal investigations and service coordination, documentation, and continuous improvement related to equipment performance. Troubleshoot and support root cause investigations for equipment failures and implement correct actions.
  • Support cross-functional efforts related to new equipment onboarding, equipment relocations, obsolescence planning, and lab expansions.
  • Coordinate maintenance, calibration, verification, and qualification activities across internal stakeholders (R&D and CLIA) and external service vendors to minimize impact on lab workflows while ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant documentation for all equipment-related activities, support audits, inspections, and internal reviews.
  • Support development of equipment maintenance strategies to minimize downtime and increase overall equipment reliability.
  • Support investigations as SME in NCR’s and CAPA’s as needed.
  • Support development and authoring equipment specifications, user requirements, and IQ/OQ protocols. Support equipment qualification activities.
  • Ensure all equipment and processes meet quality and regulatory standards (CLIA, CAP, IVD, and/or FDA regulations).
  • Adhere to procedures and policies outlined within Veracyte’s quality management system.

Who You Are:

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
