Job Description
The Commercial Lines Underwriting (CLUW) unit of Verisk Insurance Solutions is hiring a Product Specialist, Business Insights, to support the ProMetrix product portfolio. This role will transform ProMetrix data into meaningful business insights, dashboards, and recurring reporting that help underwriting, product, operations, sales, and leadership teams understand performance, customer usage, market needs, and opportunities for improvement. The ideal candidate combines commercial insurance underwriting knowledge, analytical thinking, and hands-on reporting experience with tools such as Tableau and SAP BusinessObjects. The role serves as a bridge between underwriting and business stakeholders, data and technology partners, and the ProMetrix product team.
Responsibilities
• Own and evolve the business insights and reporting strategy for ProMetrix, ensuring dashboards and reports align with commercial insurance, underwriting, product, and operational priorities. • Design, develop, maintain, and enhance dashboards, scorecards, and recurring reports using Tableau, SAP BusinessObjects, and related reporting tools. • Translate underwriting questions and business needs into clear reporting requirements, key performance indicators, data definitions, and actionable visualizations. • Analyze ProMetrix product usage, customer activity, operational performance, and commercial property data to identify trends, opportunities, exceptions, and areas requiring follow-up. • Partner with commercial underwriters, product leaders, operations teams, risk engineering, sales, marketing, and customer-facing teams to understand reporting needs and deliver practical insights. • Present findings and recommendations in clear, concise formats for business users and leadership, tailoring the level of detail to the audience. • Validate report logic and data outputs, investigate inconsistencies, and coordinate with data and technology teams to resolve reporting or data-quality issues. • Establish and maintain consistent reporting definitions, documentation, refresh expectations, and governance practices so users have a shared understanding of metrics. • Gather feedback from internal and external ProMetrix users and convert that feedback into prioritized reporting enhancements and new insight opportunities. • Create clear business requirements and Jira user stories for reporting, data, and product enhancements; define acceptance criteria and support user acceptance testing. • Collaborate with IT, data, and development teams in an agile environment to communicate priorities, clarify requirements, test solutions, and support successful releases. • Support customer discussions, demonstrations, proofs of concept, and sales opportunities by explaining how ProMetrix data and insights support commercial underwriting workflows and decisions. • Contribute to the ProMetrix roadmap and backlog, with primary ownership of reporting, analytics, and business insight capabilities.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience. • At least 2 to 3 years of experience in business intelligence, analytics, reporting, product analysis, commercial insurance, or a related field. • Hands-on experience building and maintaining dashboards and reports in Tableau, SAP BusinessObjects, or comparable business intelligence platforms. • Ability to analyze business questions, identify appropriate measures, and communicate findings through clear data visualizations and concise narratives. • Experience gathering and documenting reporting requirements, defining metrics, and validating outputs with business stakeholders. • Working knowledge of data structures, report development, data validation, and common business intelligence concepts. • Excellent critical-thinking, problem-solving, organization, and project management skills, including the ability to coordinate multiple time-sensitive priorities. • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical or analytical information to business audiences. • Ability to collaborate effectively across product, underwriting, operations, data, design, and engineering teams.
Preferred Qualifications • Commercial property or commercial lines underwriting experience, including familiarity with how underwriters evaluate risk, use third-party data, and make account or portfolio decisions. • Experience working for an insurance carrier, managing general agent, broker, risk engineering organization, or insurance data and analytics provider. • Understanding of commercial insurance workflows, including submission intake, risk selection, pricing or rating, underwriting review, portfolio management, and renewal activities. • Experience using business intelligence reporting to support underwriting management, portfolio analysis, operational monitoring, or product performance decisions. • Experience with SQL, data preparation, semantic layers, or querying structured datasets is a plus. • Experience with ThoughtSpot Cloud and Amazon Quick
What Success Looks Like • Business users can quickly understand ProMetrix performance and customer activity through intuitive, decision-oriented reporting. • Underwriting and product stakeholders have consistent definitions and trusted views of the metrics that matter to their workflows. • Reporting needs are translated into well-defined, prioritized enhancements that can be delivered efficiently with data and technology partners. • Insights lead to clear actions, stronger customer conversations, and informed ProMetrix product decisions.
