The Defense teams are responsible for owning the security lifecycle and effectiveness across the Core, Edge, and Access networks and all of the systems and network functions within GN&T.

In this role, you will be a technical leader on a team of security engineers, responsible for the end to end security of the CALEA Lawful Intercept applications, covering Wireless, Wireline, and interfaces with other applications across the Verizon Network. You will set the technical direction for the team in driving the discovery and identity of all related network assets. You will be expected to build a deep understanding of the asset function and roadmap, develop threat detections, safeguard through proactive monitoring, and improve the security hygiene by implementing the Network Security Fundamentals (Access Management, Situational Awareness, Configuration Hardening, Vulnerability Mitigation).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Discover, identify, and inventory all network assets and asset information (model, version, etc) in the CALEA network.
  • Build a deep understanding of the network assets and the roadmap to quickly assess the impact of vulnerabilities and identify End-of-Life/End-of-Support hardware/software.
  • Develop a baseline of normal operations and implement threat detections to alert of deviations to proactively identify potential cyber threats.
  • Develop incident response protocols to quickly identify, contain, and resolve network security incidents and threats.
  • Understand the current state of cybersecurity and improve the security posture through the implementation of the Network Security Fundamentals (Access Management, Situational Awareness, Configuration Hardening, Vulnerability Mitigation).
  • Ownership and accountability for the network security scorecard and help drive increased maturity, visibility, and subject-matter expertise.
  • Ensuring that the security controls planned for the Networks are operating effectively.
  • Build and drive automation for the team to be successful at scale across hundreds of network elements.

***This role can be located in any US based Verizon hub location.***

What we’re looking for...

You’re a technical leader who is driven to pinpoint a problem and tenacious about finding a solution. You’re organized and pay attention to details. You are the person that others rely on. You present to executive leadership regularly on the team’s critical business activities.

You’ll need to have:

  • Demonstrated experience in managing and delivering results, with a proven track record.
  • Leadership experience as a subject matter expert.
  • Effective written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated organization and project management skills.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
