What you'll be doing…

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in State and Local Tax compliance. While experience in gross receipts tax or in the telecommunications industry is a plus, it is not required - candidates with strong state and local tax backgrounds from any industry or public accounting setting are encouraged to apply.

This hybrid role will have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days as set by the supervisor.

  • Responsible for the accurate and timely filing of State and Local Gross Receipt Tax Returns (which are similar to Corporate Income Tax Returns).
  • Process state and local tax payments in accordance with state deadlines, ensuring all internal policies and procedures are followed.
  • Assist in gathering documentation and supporting responses for state and local tax inquiries and audits.
  • Handle high volumes of revenue data utilizing Excel, Alteryx, generative AI solutions and data visualization software to streamline workflows.
  • Foster clear communication and positive working relationships with internal stakeholders and external state and local tax authorities.
  • Identify process improvements and reduce redundant tasks by using automation tools.
  • Assist with special projects including tax research initiatives and analyze the impact to the tax filings as required.
  • Perform routine reconciliations for tax liability accounts and assist with the cash forecasting & budgeting for the team.
  • Ensure internal controls are followed for all compliance functions.

What we're looking for…

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or three or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in preparing state and local tax compliance.
  • Familiarity with state tax laws, regulations, and multi-jurisdictional filings.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • A Master’s degree in Taxation or Accounting.
  • A CPA license or active progress towards CPA certification.
  • Public accounting (Big 4 or large regional firm) experience.
  • Ability to prioritize deliverables with competing timelines.
  • Ability to build relationships and work cross functionally.
  • Success working both independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly motivated, technical & detailed oriented
  • Strong proficiency with automation and visualization tools (e.g., Alteryx, Qlik, Tableau, or Generative AI tax solutions).
  • Experience in the Telecommunications industry is a plus.
  • Experience with income tax or gross receipts tax regulations is a plus.

Where you’ll be working

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes working from home and a minimum of three days per week in the office, which will be set by your manager. Employees are responsible for maintaining compliance with hybrid work policies.

The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part-time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.

The annual salary range for the location(s) listed on this job requisition based on a full-time schedule is: $74,000.00 - $121,000.00.
