Job Description

Vermont State University invites applications for full-time, tenure-track faculty positions in Electrical Engineering Technology. The University is currently seeking candidates for positions beginning in Spring 2027 and anticipates hiring multiple faculty members as programmatic needs, enrollment, and course offerings evolve. The successful candidates will join the Department of Engineering and contribute to the delivery and continued development of applied, career-focused engineering technology programs.

The position is based at the University's Randolph Center and Williston campuses, home to longstanding engineering technology programs with a strong tradition of hands-on laboratory education, close connections with industry, and preparation of graduates for professional engineering and technical careers.

We seek enthusiastic educators who value applied learning and are committed to helping students develop strong technical, analytical, laboratory, design, and professional skills. Faculty will teach undergraduate courses in electrical and electronics engineering technology, participate in curriculum and laboratory development, advise and mentor students, contribute to program assessment and accreditation activities, and engage with industry and the broader University community.

Hiring will occur based on evolving programmatic priorities, enrollment, and instructional needs. Applicants may be considered for current or anticipated openings within the Electrical Engineering Technology program.

Primary Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Teach undergraduate lecture and laboratory courses in Electrical Engineering Technology and related engineering areas.
  • Teach courses that may include electric circuits, electronics, digital systems, instrumentation and measurement, electrical machines, industrial controls, programmable logic controllers, embedded systems, microcontrollers, renewable energy systems, communications, and related topics depending on the candidate's expertise and program needs.
  • Develop and maintain engaging laboratory experiences emphasizing practical application, experimentation, troubleshooting, design, and modern engineering tools.
  • Advise and mentor students regarding academic progress, career pathways, internships, and professional opportunities.
  • Participate in curriculum development and continuous improvement of engineering technology programs.
  • Contribute to student learning assessment and program accreditation activities, including work associated with ABET accreditation.
  • Participate in departmental, school, and university service.
  • Build and maintain connections with employers, industry partners, professional organizations, and other external stakeholders.
  • Support student recruitment, retention, and outreach activities.
  • Engage in appropriate professional development, scholarly activity, applied research, consulting, industry collaboration, or other forms of professional practice consistent with the University's mission and expectations for tenure and promotion.

Required Qualifications

Applicants must have:

  • A master's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field by the time of appointment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of electrical and electronic systems and the ability to teach undergraduate engineering technology courses and laboratories.
  • A commitment to applied, hands-on education and student-centered teaching.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • The ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, industry partners, and other stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference may be given to candidates with one or more of the following:

  • Professional experience in electrical engineering, electronics, manufacturing, automation, controls, energy systems, embedded systems, or a related technical field.
  • College-level teaching experience, particularly in engineering or engineering technology.
  • Experience developing and teaching laboratory-based courses.
  • Knowledge of industrial automation, programmable logic controllers, electrical machines, power systems, renewable energy, embedded systems, instrumentation, or related emerging technologies.
  • Experience with industry-standard engineering software, instrumentation, data acquisition systems, or electrical/electronic test equipment.
  • Experience with ABET-accredited programs, outcomes assessment, or continuous program improvement.
  • A Professional Engineer license or other relevant professional certification.
  • Experience working collaboratively with industry and supporting internships, applied projects, undergraduate research, or capstone design experiences.
  • A demonstrated commitment to supporting students from a wide range of educational and professional backgrounds.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
