The posting

Overview

Veronica Beard is seeking a creative, curious, and resourceful Assistant Designer to support cut & sew knitwear from research through sample development.

Responsibilities

  • Create and update technical flats, presentation boards, tech packs, and line sheets.
  • Assist with fabric and trim sourcing, development submissions, and sample tracking.
  • Attend fittings, document design comments, and update sketches and development details.
  • Keep samples, materials, and digital files organized, improving systems where needed.
  • Bring unique, well-edited research from vintage, runway, art, street style, and other sources, translating inspiration into ideas for silhouettes, color, fabrics, and details.
  • Partner with Product Development, Technical Design, Merchandising, and Production to meet seasonal deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in fashion design or related training preferred.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in design
  • A refined eye for color, proportion, and detail, with an appreciation for washed, casual product, femininity, and tailoring.
  • Clean technical flats in Illustrator or Procreate, strong Photoshop skills, and familiarity with tech packs, line sheets, and fit notes.
  • A basic understanding of garment construction, fabrics, and fit.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, and follow-through.
  • A positive, collaborative attitude and strong work ethic; receptive to feedback, asks thoughtful questions, and brings solutions.
  • PLM familiarity, an expressive croquis sketching hand, and an interest in fabric innovation are pluses.

Portfolio

A focused PDF portfolio is preferred over a website, demonstrating strong research, design development, clean flats, and thoughtful self-editing. We welcome denim, wovens, and sportswear with interesting details. Sweaters are welcome, but portfolios should show range beyond knitwear.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
