This position serves as the operational backbone of the Capital organization and provides independent portfolio and project assurance by identifying material gaps in governance, project controls, financial reporting, risk management, and project performance.

The role is not intended to perform detailed project execution. Instead, it ensures that project teams operate within a consistent, scalable, and disciplined framework and that leadership has the information required to make timely decisions.

Key Responsibilities Global Capital Governance

  • Establish and own Vertiv's global Capital Project Management framework.
  • Define project lifecycle requirements, stage gates, approval standards, and governance expectations.
  • Establish minimum project-controls requirements based on project size, risk, complexity, and type.
  • Maintain standard processes, templates, tools, and documentation.
  • Provide independent assurance regarding project compliance with established governance.
  • Portfolio Management & Executive Reporting
  • Maintain global visibility of the Capital project pipeline and active portfolio.
  • Develop executive reporting covering investment, forecast, schedule, milestones, risks, changes, and project health.
  • Establish consistent definitions and reporting standards across regions.
  • Identify portfolio-level trends, systemic risks, constraints, and performance concerns.
  • Convert complex project information into clear management insights and actionable recommendations.

Financial & Project Controls

  • Partner with Finance to establish consistent capital forecasting and reporting practices.
  • Define standards for budgets, commitments, forecast-at-completion, contingencies, cash flow, and variance reporting.
  • Establish standards for baseline schedules, milestone tracking, change control, and risk management.
  • Monitor data quality and challenge inconsistencies in project reporting.
  • Support reconciliation between project management reporting and financial systems.

Project Assurance

  • Independently identify material deficiencies in project controls, governance, risk management, schedule management, or financial reporting.
  • Escalate significant concerns to the Sr. Director – Capital Projects.
  • Support targeted project reviews when performance, risk, or governance concerns emerge.
  • Develop and track corrective actions arising from assurance reviews.

PMIS & Data Ownership

  • Serve as the Capital business owner for project-management systems and related technology platforms.
  • Define functional requirements for PMIS capabilities, dashboards, workflows, and reporting.
  • Drive user adoption, process consistency, and data quality.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve decision support.
  • Establish appropriate project-data standards and governance.

Supplier & Performance Management

  • Develop scorecards and performance metrics for major Capital delivery partners.
  • Support performance reviews with project management, design, cost, and construction providers.
  • Identify recurring supplier-performance issues and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Support development of preferred-provider and sourcing strategies.

Continuous Improvement & Capability Building

  • Facilitate lessons-learned reviews and convert findings into process improvements.
  • Benchmark Capital practices against industry standards and leading owner organizations.
  • Develop training and onboarding materials for Capital professionals.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify processes while strengthening financial control and project accountability.
  • Support continuous development of Capital organizational capability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in project management, construction management, engineering, finance, business, real estate, or related discipline.
  • Typically 10+ years of experience in capital projects, project controls, PMO leadership, portfolio management, or related disciplines.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
