ABOUT VEG

In 2014, VEG was born with a mission to help people and their pets when they need it most by challenging norms and fixing the ER experience. Since then, we’ve expanded rapidly, with hospitals nationwide open 24/7/365, and created an ER experience that focuses on what our pets and pet parents really need. We’ve done the same for our people (VEGgies), finding a way to say YES so they are empowered to achieve great things, grow in unexpected ways, and find a place where they truly belong.

We’re rethinking emergency care from every angle—from how we run our hospitals to how we support the people working inside them. That’s where our headquarters team comes in. Whether building technology to make our hospitals more efficient, recruiting and growing incredible VEGgies, or bringing our brand to life through marketing, our VQ (VEG Headquarters) team makes it all possible—ensuring our hospitals and people have everything they need to help pets and their families.

VEG is a 2025 and 2026 certified Great Place to Work®.

THE JOB

At VEG, we find a way to say YES—and this role brings that mentality to keeping our VEGgies safe and our hospitals ready for the unexpected. .

As Director, Security Operations and Intelligence, you’ll build and lead the security operations, strategic intelligence, and crisis management capabilities that protect our VEGgies, pet parents, patients, facilities, and operations as we grow. You’ll set the enterprise-wide strategy, standards, and operating model, partnering with leaders across VEGquarters (VQ) and our hospitals to turn complex risk signals into clear action.

You’ll build the systems and partnerships that help our teams anticipate threats and respond with confidence. That means developing others, strengthening readiness, and bringing calm, sound judgment to the moments when the stakes are high.

This job requires 5 days in office at our HQ in White Plains.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Security Strategy and Standards: Develop and maintain operating standards, playbooks, standard operating procedures, escalation protocols, and governance frameworks for VEG’s Global Security Operations Center (GSOC). Establish clear practices for incident management, alarms and alerts, global threats, executive protection suppoort, facility security, and emergency response.
  • Security Operations: Lead VEG’s 24/7/365 GSOC, overseeing daily operations and ensuring rapid detection, assessment, triage, escalation, and response to security incidents and operational disruptions across VEG facilities.
  • Critical-Incident Response: Serve as a primary escalation point during significant events, coordinating response with HR, Legal, IT/Cyber, Facilities, Communications, Real Estate, Business Continuity, and field leadership. Lead after-action reviews and remediation efforts to strengthen future readiness.
  • Monitoring and Executive Security: Oversee enterprise monitoring and executive security support, including physical security systems, access control, environmental alerts, executive travel and threat monitoring, residential alarm support, contractor guard activity, and site-level security events.
  • Partnership and Readiness: Build trusted relationships across VEG and with law enforcement and external security partners. Provide hands-on leadership and coaching to VQ and field leaders, ensure policy and privacy compliance, and develop training that strengthens threat assessment, incident response, customer service, and alarm-monitoring standards.

WHAT YOU NEED

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in security operations, a GSOC/operations center, crisis management, emergency management, intelligence, law enforcement, or a related field, including experience leading managers and teams in a complex, multi-site or 24/7 environment.
  • Demonstrated experience developing policies, procedures, escalation protocols, and governance standards, with working knowledge of legal and regulatory considerations affecting security, investigations, incident response, and information sharing. Investigative, law-enforcement, or fusion-center experience is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of open-source intelligence (OSINT) methodologies, threat assessment, predictive threat modeling, and risk forecasting, with the ability to independently research, produce, and edit high-quality reports and executive summaries.
  • Strong executive communication, stakeholder-management, and networking skills, with the ability to build trust across internal teams and external partners and translate complex security requirements into practical strategies and program objectives.
  • Proven judgment and composure in high-pressure, time-sensitive incidents, with the ability to lead through change and manage competing priorities.
  • Experience using security and crisis-management technologies effectively.
  • Bachelor’s degree in intelligence studies, national security, criminal justice, emergency management, political science, international studies, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Availability to support critical incidents outside standard business hours and travel as needed.
  • Five days in office required at VEGquarters in White Plains, NY.

WHO YOU ARE

  • Empathetic, instinctively taking a people-centric approach, whether supporting your colleagues or making an effort to understand different perspectives
  • Have a sense of humility; acknowledging mistakes, sharing credit with others, and lifting up your team’s accomplishments
  • Feel a strong sense of ownership over your work, taking responsibility for outcomes and staying committed to achieving long-term, impactful results
  • Curious by nature; you ask insightful questions and continuously seek out opportunities to learn and grow your skills and knowledge

HOW WE INVEST IN YOU

  • Competitive Compensation Including base salary $170,000 - 220,000 (based on experience) + bonus + benefits.
  • Comprehensive health and wellness benefits that start on day one, and access to free therapy or counseling
  • Paid parental leave, up to 12 weeks at 100% of regular salary, and offering inclusive fertility and family-building care for all types of families
  • Unlimited PTO to use for vacation or sick days—however you need it!
  • Generous employee referral program, so our awesome people can bring in more awesome people.
  • And the little (big) things, like casual office attire, ability to bring your fur baby to work, cool VEG swag, food in the fridge for when you’re hungry and free lunches twice a week!!
  • Company laptop and a monthly cell phone reimbursement

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
