Technicians are the backbone of our hospital, supporting doctors, advocating for patients, and ensuring that every visit reflects our mission: Fear Free care for pets and their people. This role offers the opportunity to expand technical skills, build confidence in clinical procedures, and contribute meaningfully to a workplace built on grace, respect, and teamwork. Our technicians rotate through exam, treatment, and surgical areas to maintain variety and balanced workload. You’ll handle a mix of wellness, medical, dental, and surgical cases in a calm, Fear Free environment designed for efficiency and patient comfort.

Core Responsibilities

Patient Care & Technical Excellence

  • Perform and assist with technical procedures including venipuncture, IV catheter placement, anesthesia induction/monitoring, intubation, and surgical preparation.
  • Conduct dental cleanings, scaling, polishing, charting, and obtain digital dental radiographs.
  • Collect and prepare samples (blood, urine, fecal, ear/skin cytology, fine-needle aspirates) for in-house or reference lab analysis.
  • Perform diagnostic imaging, including full-body and dental radiographs, and support ultrasound procedures as directed.
  • Monitor and record vital signs, anesthetic depth, and recovery progress for surgical and hospitalized patients.
  • Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments accurately, maintaining safety and compliance with DEA and hospital protocols
  • Assist in hospitalized patient care including IV fluid administration, bandage changes, wound care, and nutritional support.

Client Care & Communication

  • Support client education by explaining treatment plans, preventive care, nutrition, and at-home instructions clearly and empathetically.
  • Foster trust and rapport with clients, ensuring a positive and supportive experience at every visit.
  • Collaborate with the Client Service Team to promote smooth communication and seamless workflow between front and back of house.

Hospital Support & Team Collaboration

  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety in all clinical and exam areas.
  • Support inventory management by restocking supplies and alerting leadership to low stock or equipment issues.
  • Participate in daily huddles and team meetings to coordinate care and uphold hospital flow
  • Adhere to OSHA, DEA, and infection control standards.
  • Actively contribute to a positive, Fear Free culture by supporting teammates, staying adaptable, and communicating openly.

Qualifications

  • ·Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT/LVT/RVT) preferred, or equivalent hands-on experience in a small animal practice.
  • 2+ years of clinical experience demonstrating competency in anesthesia monitoring, dentistry, radiology, and laboratory diagnostics.
  • Proficiency in patient restraint, surgical preparation, medication administration, and Fear Free handling techniques.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with veterinarians, fellow technicians, and client service staff.
  • Emotionally intelligent and compassionate, maintaining calm, confident energy in both routine and urgent patient situations.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple patients and priorities efficiently.
  • Passionate about continuous learning, professional development, and contributing to a supportive, drama-free workplace culture.
  • Dedicated to the Live with Grace mission and our Fear Free philosophy, delivering care that honors the emotional well-being of pets and their people.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. unassisted and assist with team lifts over 50 lbs
  • Capable of standing, bending, and walking for extended periods during shifts.
  • Must be able to perform all aspects of patient care safely and compassionately.
