As artificial intelligence becomes part of more systems and workflows, understanding its security risks becomes essential. At Via Logic, you’ll help evaluate AI applications, identify vulnerabilities, and strengthen defenses supporting U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

As an AI/ML Security Specialist, you’ll contribute to adversarial testing, operational security assessments, and practical recommendations for securing AI implementations. You’ll also help assess how attackers could use AI capabilities against existing systems and identify ways to strengthen the organization’s defenses.

We are considering candidates across multiple experience levels. We’ll evaluate the depth and relevance of your experience against the requirements of the available openings.

Eligibility & Clearance Requirements

Due to CBP requirements, applicants must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen.
  • Meet and maintain the background investigation, suitability, and any security clearance requirements applicable to the assignment.
  • Be available to work onsite at a government site in Ashburn, VA.

Specific suitability and clearance requirements will be confirmed for the opening. Please include your current federal suitability or clearance status when applying.

Your Mission

  • Test and evaluate AI applications and implementations to identify security vulnerabilities and operational risks.
  • Conduct authorized adversarial testing under the direction of government stakeholders.
  • Assess AI/ML models and applications for security weaknesses, adversarial threats, and data privacy concerns.
  • Review existing cyber defenses to identify potential exposure to AI-assisted attacks.
  • Recommend and help implement security controls and defensive measures addressing identified risks.
  • Develop and maintain testing plans, methods, and standard operating procedures.
  • Document testing results, supporting evidence, and actionable recommendations for corrective action.
  • Communicate findings clearly to technical teams, government stakeholders, and decision-makers.
  • Support secure AI/ML implementation practices and contribute to security guidance addressing emerging risks.
  • Perform work in accordance with applicable government policies, standards, and approved testing procedures.

What You Bring to the Expedition

  • Relevant professional experience in cybersecurity, application security, security testing, AI/ML security, or a closely related technical discipline.
  • Hands-on experience assessing technical systems or applications for vulnerabilities and explaining their potential impact.
  • Understanding of AI/ML concepts and how security risks can arise across models, data, applications, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Ability to develop or execute repeatable tests, analyze results, and document findings.
  • Experience translating technical findings into practical security controls or remediation recommendations.
  • Clear technical writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with engineers, security teams, and government stakeholders.

We are considering candidates at three levels:

  • Junior - 2+ years: You bring relevant technical experience and foundational knowledge of AI/ML security. You can support defined testing activities, analyze results, and document findings with guidance.
  • Mid-Level - 5+ years: You bring demonstrated experience conducting security assessments and can independently execute assigned testing, evaluate risks, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Senior - 7+ years: You bring depth in complex security assessments and AI/ML risks. You can help shape testing methods, evaluate defensive approaches, and guide others through findings and remediation.

Preferred qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Experience assessing AI/ML applications or conducting AI adversarial testing.
  • Experience evaluating threats such as prompt injection, sensitive-data exposure, adversarial inputs, or data poisoning.
  • Scripting or programming experience used to automate testing, analyze results, or reproduce security findings.
  • Experience developing security testing plans, assessment reports, or operating procedures.
  • Experience supporting federal cybersecurity programs.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
