VIA is making an impact, and so can you.
Headquartered in Somerville, Massachusetts, VIA is a mission-critical software company that enables organizations to share sensitive, distributed data at speed without compromising security or control. VIA’s decentralized architecture gives organizations control over their data, while its agentic AI helps them solve critical challenges and its military-grade security governs access. Designed for simplicity, rapid deployment, and disconnected, contested environments, VIA makes sensitive data usable wherever the mission happens, even offline. The Department of War, federal and state law enforcement, NGOs, and critical infrastructure companies around the globe trust VIA to help them solve their toughest analytics and digital security challenges.
Big missions deserve to be seen, heard, and felt, not just described. We're looking for a Video and Multimedia Production Sr. Specialist to bring VIA's mission, technology, and people to life through video, photography, audio, and design. We want VIA's customer-facing messaging to be creative and compelling, and you'll be at the center of making that happen.
This is a hands-on senior role. We need someone who can sit in on a product demo, interview the engineer who built it, film it, edit it, and have it ready to publish while the story is still fresh.
You'll turn complex ideas like Zero Trust identity and quantum-resistant data transfer into clear visual stories for government, critical infrastructure, and humanitarian audiences. You'll collaborate closely with colleagues across brand, communications, and social media who set the why behind each story, while you pitch and help shape what we make and own how it comes to life.
Individuals who'll excel in this role know how to dig past the technical details to uncover the core "so what" of a story. They love taking a complex idea, making it feel simple and compelling, and owning it from the first idea to the final cut. If that sounds like you, are you ready to join us?
In this role, your day-to-day will include:
Creative direction and planning
- Concepts and series: Pitch concepts, formats, and recurring series to your brand, communications, and social media collaborators, and turn approved ideas into production plans
- Production plan: Own VIA's multimedia production plan, balancing launches, campaigns, events, and evergreen content against capacity and timelines
- Production standards: Define VIA's standards for video, photography, and audio, in line with brand guidelines, so every asset looks and sounds like VIA
Production
- End-to-end video: Plan, shoot, and edit video from concept to final cut, including product explainers, customer stories, leadership messaging, and short-form clips for social
- Technical storytelling: Partner with product and engineering teams to translate technical concepts into clear, accurate visuals, following VIA's review process for what can be shared about customers and deployments
- Design, motion graphics, and animation: Create graphics, motion graphics, and animated assets for campaigns, presentations, the website, and social channels
- Podcast: Lead production of VIA's podcast, including recording, editing, audio quality, and promotional clips, and recommend format improvements
Events and culture
- Event coverage: Plan and lead photo and video coverage of company events, conferences, and team moments, and turn footage around quickly so it can be shared while it's timely
- Across our offices: Travel to VIA's other offices to capture events and team experiences, so every location is part of the VIA story
Partnership and building the function
- Brand and social partnership: Partner cross-functionally with brand and social to translate goals into creative concepts
- Production foundations: Build VIA's production workflows, gear, and tools as our first dedicated multimedia hire
- Multimedia partners: Lead crews and freelancers on larger shoots, manage day-to-day execution with production partners, and weigh in on which partners VIA works with
- Performance: Review content performance with your social media collaborators and use what you learn to sharpen formats and future concepts
- Media library: Build and maintain an organized, searchable library of footage, photos, and brand assets like icons
What you'll accomplish in your first 90 days:
- Spend time with product and engineering teams to learn VIA's technology, customers, and brand well enough to tell our story accurately
- Audit VIA's existing video, podcast, and visual content, and present a recommendation on what to keep, change, and create
- Recommend and set up a production kit, including camera, audio, lighting, and editing tools
- Build working relationships with VIA's multimedia production partners, manage day-to-day execution, and get hands-on with VIA's podcast
- Ship your first product explainer or customer story, from concept through final cut
- Lead coverage of a company event or conference end to end, with highlights turned around the same week
- Establish a production workflow with your brand, communications, and social media collaborators, including intake, timelines, and review and approval steps
- Document VIA's video, photo, and audio production standards
- Pitch a six-month multimedia plan, including at least one recurring series
What you will bring to this role:
Required experience
- 3-5 years of video and multimedia production experience, ideally including time at an agency, production company, or in-house brand team
- A portfolio of end-to-end work you shot and edited yourself, including at least one piece that explains a complex or technical topic and one series or campaign you led
- A track record of translating technical B2B subject matter into simple, compelling visual stories
- Experience leading productions, including directing crew, talent, and freelancers on set
- Experience recording and editing audio, ideally including podcast production
- Deep proficiency in Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve, plus Adobe Creative Suite (After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom)
- Experience using emerging AI video and audio tools to speed up iteration and scale output without sacrificing quality
Essential skills and abilities
- A strong creative point of view, a bias toward bold, engaging ideas, and the ability to pitch concepts clearly to senior leaders
- Experience building or improving production workflows, standards, or processes
- The ability to turn content around quickly when a moment is timely, without sacrificing quality
- Sound judgment about what to capture and share, especially when it involves customers, security, or sensitive information
- Comfort putting engineers, executives, and customers at ease on camera
- Strong organization across multiple productions, deadlines, and asset libraries
- Willingness to travel to VIA's other offices and to occasional conferences, sometimes outside regular hours
Nice to have
- Animation or 3D experience (e.g., Cinema 4D)
- Event photography experience
- A network of freelance animators, designers, and crew in Greater Boston
- Experience in cybersecurity, defense, government, or financial services, or in other regulated or security-sensitive environments
