Compensation for this position will be determined based on a combination of factors, including education, professional certifications, relevant experience, and other job-related considerations permitted by law.
Role Overview
The Lead Payroll Analyst oversees payroll operations to ensure employees are paid accurately, on time, and in compliance with applicable payroll regulations. This role supports the full payroll cycle for approximately 1,000 U.S. and Canadian employees across weekly and semi-monthly payrolls. The position combines hands-on payroll expertise with operational oversight, issue resolution, compliance, process improvement, and system testing to maintain effective and reliable payroll operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for U.S. and Canadian employees, including salaries, taxes, benefits, wage attachments, garnishments, deductions, and payroll updates.
- Reconcile and audit payroll transactions, resolve discrepancies, maintain accurate payroll records, and manage year-end activities including W-2 reconciliation.
- Ensure payroll practices comply with applicable federal, state, and local wage, hour, tax, and payroll requirements, and support internal and external audits.
- Evaluate payroll processes and systems, implement improvements that increase accuracy and efficiency, and participate in testing payroll enhancements and regulatory updates.
- Partner with HR stakeholders to maintain consistent payroll processes, resolve issues, and ensure clear understanding of payroll requirements and expectations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or relevant work experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of payroll processing experience with multi-state responsibility.
- Experience with Workday and UKG payroll systems.
- Extensive knowledge of payroll processing, reconciliation, internal controls, and payroll taxation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and leadership skills with a high level of attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Canadian payroll experience.
- Global payroll experience.
