Summary The Meter Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, calibrating and repairing all revenue generating meter devices. This includes condensate, vortex and magnetic flow meters associated with the company’s operation facilities. The Meter Technician reports to the Maintenance Manager. This is a full-time, non-exempt. union position and is located in Baltimore, Maryland. The compensation for this position is $36.25 per hour plus a 10% bonus target. Responsibilities
Maintain safe working conditions in accordance with established company policies. Identify, report and/or correct unsafe work environments. Ensures compliance with all applicable environmental regulations. Participates in on-scene work taking direction from others. Operate all hand/power tools in a competent manner. Perform maintenance, repair, calibration and installation of all metering equipment. Participate in the procurement of and evaluation of new equipment. Work with corporate in setting up meters in Pi. Assist in the implementation of new calibration methods and techniques. Rebuild and clean condensate meters preparing them for installation. Assist others as required. Exercise caution in the use and maintenance of all company equipment. Must be able to work overtime as required and join the on-call rotation once trained.
Basic Qualifications
HS Diploma or GED Minimum of 1 year experience performing metering in an industrial environment
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematic drawings. Demonstrated ability to communicate orally and in writing. Ability to transcribe numbers accurately and in a timely fashion.
Other Qualifications
Ability to work with minimum supervision.
Physical Requirements
Must submit to company provided pre-employment physical exam and drug screening. Must possess a valid driver’s license and insurable by company’s vehicle insurance carrier. Must have and maintain a driving record meeting the standards of the company.
May be required to lift and maneuver up to and including 50 pounds. May be required to work in confined spaces such as boilers, tanks and manholes. May be required to climb vertical ladders up to 100 feet.
May be required to pass a respirator physical and respirator fit test.
May be required to work in hot areas and under adverse conditions both indoors and outdoors during all seasons.
