In this role, you will drive the strategic and operational success of the Fellowship across Karnataka. You will lead a cohort of Fellows, oversee a diverse portfolio of litigation and legal aid initiatives, build partnerships with lawyers and civil society organisations, and ensure that legal interventions translate into meaningful outcomes for underserved communities.

Working closely with the Access to Justice Lead, mentors, and external stakeholders, you will shape how the Fellowship delivers impact while strengthening systems, processes, and partnerships that advance the programme's long-term vision.

This is an opportunity to play a leadership role in one of India's most impactful access-to-justice initiatives. You will help shape legal interventions that improve people's everyday interactions with the justice system while mentoring the next generation of public-interest legal professionals.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Translate programme priorities into clear workplans, milestones, and performance goals for Fellows.
  • Foster a high-performing learning environment through regular coaching, feedback, and peer learning.
  • Coordinate with mentors, advisors, and subject matter experts to strengthen Fellows' professional development.

Litigation & Access to Justice

  • Provide strategic oversight of the Fellowship's litigation and legal aid portfolio, ensuring timely, high-quality case management.
  • Guide Fellows on litigation strategy, client counselling, grievance redressal, and legal interventions.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with advocates, legal service providers, courts, and partner organisations.
  • Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of litigation and legal aid opportunities, including identifying cases with the potential for systemic impact.
  • Monitor case progress, referrals, documentation, and outcomes while ensuring strong quality assurance and knowledge management.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as the state-level representative for the Fellowship, supporting in cultivating trusted relationships with legal practitioners, institutions, and civil society partners.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen the Fellowship's ecosystem through collaborations, partnerships, and strategic initiatives.
  • Capture insights and best practices to inform programme improvements and contribute to Nyaaya's broader access-to-justice mission.

You are a legal professional with a strong foundation in litigation and a track record of leading people, programmes, or access to justice projects. You are equally comfortable navigating court processes, mentoring early-career professionals, and building partnerships that create lasting social impact.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
