Senior Account Manager – Digital Marketing & Project Delivery
Experience: 6–8 years Role Type: Full-time | Senior Individual Contributor / Team Management
Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Senior Account Manager – Digital Marketing & Project Delivery who can independently manage multiple client accounts, lead client relationships, oversee campaign performance, and ensure timely, high-quality project delivery.
The ideal candidate should have substantial experience working in a digital marketing agency, managing multiple clients and coordinating cross-functional teams across paid media, SEO, social media, content, design, and development.
We are not looking for someone who simply coordinates tasks or communicates updates. We need someone who understands how digital marketing works, can evaluate campaign performance, proactively recommend improvements, solve problems, and take complete ownership of client accounts.
Key Responsibilities
1. Account Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for assigned client accounts.
- Build strong client relationships through proactive communication, strategic recommendations, and consistent delivery.
- Independently lead client meetings, performance reviews, campaign discussions, and strategic planning sessions.
- Translate client requirements into clear, actionable briefs for internal teams.
- Review campaign performance and provide meaningful recommendations beyond routine reporting.
- Confidently handle client questions, objections, escalations, and challenging conversations.
- Identify opportunities to improve campaign performance, lead quality, conversion rates, and overall marketing effectiveness.
- Manage client expectations regarding timelines, budgets, deliverables, and performance outcomes.
- Identify opportunities for account growth, additional services, and strategic initiatives.
2. Project Management & Delivery Ownership
- Independently manage multiple client accounts and concurrent digital marketing projects.
- Own project planning, execution timelines, deliverables, dependencies, and overall delivery quality.
- Coordinate with performance marketing, SEO, social media, content, design, and development teams.
- Convert client requirements into clearly defined tasks, responsibilities, and deadlines.
- Ensure campaigns, landing pages, creatives, reports, and other deliverables are completed on schedule.
- Track project progress, identify bottlenecks, and proactively resolve delays.
- Prioritise competing client requirements and allocate internal resources effectively.
- Conduct quality checks before deliverables are shared with clients or campaigns go live.
- Maintain structured project trackers, meeting minutes, action items, and follow-up mechanisms.
- Ensure accountability across internal teams and maintain consistent delivery standards.
- Anticipate potential risks and take corrective action before they affect client relationships or project outcomes.
3. Team Management & Execution Oversight
- Guide and coordinate team members responsible for campaign execution and other digital marketing deliverables.
- Assign tasks, establish priorities, and ensure accountability for outcomes.
- Review campaign strategies, media plans, optimisation recommendations, and performance reports prepared by the team.
- Provide constructive feedback to improve execution quality, problem-solving, and operational efficiency.
- Support team members in resolving campaign-related and technical challenges.
- Ensure effective collaboration between performance marketing, creative, content, and technical teams.
- Monitor workload distribution, deadlines, and team productivity.
- Step in when necessary to troubleshoot campaign issues, review account configurations, or support critical execution requirements.
4. Performance Marketing & Technical Expertise
The candidate must possess strong practical knowledge of paid advertising platforms and be capable of independently evaluating campaign performance and recommending improvements.
- Demonstrate advanced working knowledge of Google Ads, Meta Ads, and LinkedIn Ads.
- Understand campaign structures, targeting, bidding strategies, budget allocation, audience segmentation, and optimisation techniques.
- Have practical experience setting up, managing, or optimising paid advertising campaigns.
- Understand conversion tracking, attribution, remarketing, and campaign measurement.
- Possess working knowledge of Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager, Meta Pixel, and conversion tracking implementations.
- Identify potential tracking issues, campaign inefficiencies, landing-page problems, and opportunities for optimisation.
- Understand how CRM data, lead feedback, and offline conversions influence campaign decisions.
- Provide technically sound recommendations to clients and execution teams.
5. Strategic Thinking & Problem-Solving
- Analyse client performance and identify areas requiring immediate attention or strategic improvement.
- Recommend appropriate marketing channels, campaign approaches, budget changes, and optimisation priorities.
- Connect campaign performance with business outcomes such as qualified leads, admissions, sales, and revenue.
- Evaluate whether performance challenges originate from targeting, creatives, landing pages, tracking, lead handling, or other funnel stages.
- Develop practical action plans to address performance gaps.
- Make informed recommendations based on data rather than relying solely on execution-team inputs.
- Stay updated on digital advertising developments, platform changes, automation, and emerging marketing practices.
Key Requirements
- Minimum 6–8 years of experience in a digital marketing agency, with substantial client-facing responsibilities.
- Proven experience independently managing multiple digital marketing client accounts.
- Strong client servicing, relationship management, and stakeholder communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience in project management, task coordination, resource planning, and delivery ownership.
- Strong hands-on background in Google Ads and Meta Ads, with working knowledge of LinkedIn Ads.
- Solid understanding of GA4, GTM, conversion tracking, attribution, and performance reporting.
- Ability to interpret campaign data and confidently recommend optimisation strategies.
- Experience coordinating cross-functional teams across performance marketing, SEO, social media, creative, content, and development.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, tight deadlines, and multiple client expectations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to lead client meetings independently.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ownership mindset.
- Ability to guide team members, review their work, and ensure timely completion of deliverables.
What Success Looks Like
- Clients receive proactive, knowledgeable communication and actionable marketing recommendations.
- Projects and campaigns are delivered on time, with clear ownership and minimal follow-up.
- Internal teams have well-defined priorities, responsibilities, and deadlines.
- Campaign performance is actively reviewed, with improvement opportunities identified and acted upon.
- Client escalations are handled independently and professionally.
- Account performance, delivery quality, and client satisfaction improve consistently.
Who This Role Is Not Suited For
- Client servicing professionals who primarily forward requests between clients and internal teams.
- Project managers without a strong understanding of digital advertising and campaign performance.
- Performance marketers who prefer campaign execution but have limited client-facing or project management experience.
- Account coordinators who depend entirely on technical teams for campaign insights and recommendations.
- Managers who focus on task allocation without taking ownership of delivery quality and client outcomes.
