Frontend Software Engineer

Type: Remote Contract Location: Brazil, Mexico, Chile or Colombia Coverage: Pacific Time overlap required

Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Frontend Software Engineer to build, maintain, and test features for a large-scale cloud management web console.

This is a hands-on engineering role for someone with strong React and TypeScript experience who is comfortable working in a mature, shared codebase and owning frontend features from requirements through implementation, testing, deployment, and verification.

A strong testing discipline is particularly important. Engineers are expected to write unit and integration tests alongside feature development rather than treating testing as a separate or optional activity.

You will work closely with engineering and product stakeholders in a distributed environment, integrate frontend experiences with production REST APIs, and build interfaces using established design systems and shared components.

Key Responsibilities:

Frontend Engineering:

  • Build, maintain, and improve production frontend features using React and TypeScript.
  • Develop complex forms, configuration workflows, dashboards, and other interactive application experiences.
  • Apply strong React fundamentals, including hooks, state management, component architecture, and reusable patterns.
  • Translate product and UI/UX requirements into reliable, maintainable production interfaces.
  • Work within an established design system and shared component ecosystem rather than relying primarily on custom styling.
  • Contribute to shared frontend components, libraries, tooling, and engineering patterns.

Testing and Software Quality:

  • Write unit and integration tests alongside all feature development.
  • Build testable frontend components and application logic.
  • Maintain and improve existing test suites as functionality evolves.
  • Diagnose and resolve regressions, edge cases, and production issues.
  • Participate in peer code reviews and incorporate engineering feedback.
  • Maintain high standards for code quality, reliability, readability, and maintainability.

APIs and Application Integration:

  • Integrate frontend applications with REST APIs in production environments.
  • Build user interfaces around complex API-backed workflows and configuration models.
  • Handle application state, validation, errors, loading states, and API responses reliably.
  • Collaborate with backend engineers when defining or troubleshooting frontend-to-service integrations.
  • Diagnose issues across the boundary between frontend applications and backend services.

Engineering Delivery:

  • Own features from requirements gathering and technical design through implementation, testing, deployment, and production verification.
  • Work effectively within large shared codebases with established engineering standards.
  • Use Git and pull-request workflows as part of day-to-day development.
  • Work within automated linting, testing, build, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Contribute to technical discussions and identify appropriate implementation approaches and trade-offs.
  • Use GenAI-assisted development tools effectively while maintaining engineering quality and ownership of the resulting code.

Collaboration:

  • Work effectively with engineers, product stakeholders, and designers in a distributed environment.
  • Communicate implementation decisions, blockers, risks, and progress clearly.
  • Participate constructively in code reviews and technical discussions.
  • Work independently while coordinating effectively with the broader engineering team.
  • Document technical decisions and implementation details when appropriate.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • 5+ years of professional frontend software development experience.
  • Significant hands-on experience building production web applications with React and TypeScript.
  • Demonstrated experience writing unit and integration tests as part of regular feature development.
  • Production experience integrating frontend applications with REST APIs.
  • Experience contributing to large, shared production codebases.
  • Experience working with Git, pull requests, code reviews, and CI/CD workflows.
  • Experience using GenAI-assisted coding tools as part of the software development process.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong production experience with React and TypeScript.
  • Strong understanding of React hooks, component architecture, state management, and complex forms.
  • Strong frontend testing experience, including unit and integration testing.
  • Experience consuming and integrating REST APIs in production applications.
  • Strong JavaScript and modern web development fundamentals.
  • Experience working with established frontend architecture and shared component libraries.
  • Strong Git and pull-request workflow experience.
  • Experience with automated linting, testing, build processes, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Ability to debug frontend application issues and identify problems across UI, state, API, and application layers.
  • Practical experience using GenAI-assisted development tools while independently validating and owning generated code.

Preferred:

  • Experience working with monorepos.
  • Experience building applications using established design systems or component libraries.
  • Experience with Node.js, Python, or broader full-stack development.
  • Experience developing GenAI-powered products or user experiences.
  • Experience with complex cloud portals, developer tools, administrative consoles, dashboards, or configuration-heavy applications.
  • Experience improving shared frontend tooling, architecture, or developer experience.
  • Experience working in large engineering organizations or mature software platforms.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • High degree of ownership and ability to work independently.
  • Comfortable collaborating asynchronously across a distributed team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to receive and provide constructive code-review feedback.
  • Comfortable working within an established engineering environment and adapting to existing standards and patterns.
  • Able to take a feature from an initial requirement through production delivery and verification.

Please Note:

  • This is a hands-on frontend engineering role. We are looking for candidates with substantial production React and TypeScript experience, not primarily UI/UX design or website-focused backgrounds.
  • Writing tests is an expected part of feature development. Candidates should have practical experience writing unit and integration tests for production frontend applications.
  • Experience integrating frontend applications with REST APIs and working with complex forms or configuration workflows is important for this role.
  • Candidates should be comfortable contributing to an existing large codebase with established linting, testing, code-review, and CI/CD practices.
  • Experience using GenAI-assisted coding tools is required, but candidates must be able to independently understand, validate, test, and maintain the code they deliver.
  • Experience with monorepos, design systems, Node.js/Python, or GenAI product development is preferred but not required.
  • This role is currently focused on candidates based in Brazil, Mexico, Chile or Colombia.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
